One thing that I always enjoyed in video games was the ability to combine powers and attacks with other npcs or players to creat and a more potent, damaging, and new skill. The current system is very limited with only 3 main mechanisms of fields, projectiles, leaps, blasts and whirls, and though they do their job, lack an impact in combat. I can’t ever think of a time when I was in 1v1 with an opponent and feared the fact they had frost, fire, or chaos armor buff on them. They lack the importance of a fight. The only good thing is the easy ability to stack might and swiftness. So I though of a interesting method to solve this, the ability to increase your powers with combining your skills with your allies. Let’s say you have 3-5 staff elementalists in a group and are all in the fire attunment, if they all held down the staff 5 button light would bounce between all 5 characters signaling a combo move and creat and ultimate version of the fire 5 skill with increased range and damage and effect. This could work with all classes such as nervous staff skills making a giant black ring that would put heavy debuffs on enemies in the ring etc. for warriors the war horn skills could be combined for an ultimate 20 second might stack that would give quickness. They possibilities would be endless and could even got to combining classes ultimate combo moves together. (Necro and water staff ele. could make a plague rain that would poison enemies and heal allies) (guardian and ranger could create a barrage of heavenly spirit arrows that burn and cripple) ( warrior and mesmer could create a warped sphere that would slow allies and their projectiles while speeding up allies in them) ( thief and engineer could create a smoky field that burns and poisons anyone inside for massive damage)
I wouldn’t want the special combos to super overpowers but rewording and devastating when hit and not avoided. Thus, in a small 5 v 5 fight pulling of these ultimate combos would be very difficult with timing and placing of each character. Perhaps add a sort of meter in the HUD with 3 individual segments that can only filled in combat and cannot be affected by traits. You would lose all progress in the bar if you die and report but if you die and rally or revive you maintain your progress. After using your special combo you would gain a period time of exhaustion where for the next 30 seconds you cannot gain anymore progress to your bar ( you would lose all of it when successfully combo). The damage and radius would scale from the amount of players involved 3 players less damage and radius but faster recharge, 4-5 players would increase effect and recharge. I know this will never happen but I though I would post it to see if anyone likes it and agrees that cross skill combos currently are pathetic to a tail gameplay mechanics.
