EDIT: General consensus so far is to ignore combat stat increases in any form, and stick strictly to non-combat things such as Magic Find/Gold Find/Kharma inc ETC.

As someone who has been searching for an MMO to fill in the gap since DAoC, I can safely say GW2 has been the best/closest thing I’ve found.

I’m absolutely loving the game at the moment. The very slight gear progession, the keeps and their mechanics, even the Balance and time to kill are almost exactly what I would have hoped for.

One complaint I have is this, and hopefully some others might agree.

Can we get some kind of universal WvW/SPvP glory system?

Hear me out, but as a programmer myself, it doesn’t seem like there could be too many complications with this system. Dev time investment to this compared to the reward seems totally worth it. A dev would have to make a clear line in the sand on the feasibility of the system though.

This can increase via kills in WvW, Solo kill nets you say… 5 points, a zerg kill or group kill nets you 4 points etc etc. taking a tower, 8-10 points, a keep 15ish, and stonemist like 25 or so. So on and so forth.

With this system you could earn a new type of rank for WvW. Say every 10 levels or so, you get a new name and rank, and maybe + 1%magic find or something insignificant to gameplay.

So I start the game as

Ehmry Bay Invader/Defender.

As I progress the enemy will see me as -

Ehmry Bay Knight and my base stats have +3 percent magic find.

2 years from now and 60,000k kills it could be.

Noble Ehmry Bay Baron/Baronness. I would have say plus 10% base magic find and like maybe MAYBE +5 to each stat (NOT 5%). Something you really couldnt even notice.

What do you guys think? I would be willing to play this game for a decade with a system like this.

EDIT:2 One more thing. Another chatbox/combat box that will have this.

Raw stat increases are not something I’d support, but non-combat stats could be interesting for progression. I wouldn’t mind seeing some small magic find boosts, but beyond that it’s really hard to add things without making the progression “necessary” even if it’s just small combat bonuses.

The magic find would b ok but not the stat boost. Weather it makes a different or not its just asking for trouble. Also I should not be based on kills which is the most useless stat when assessing a players ability in wvw unless u r just do 1v1 all the time which isn’t really wvw

Just another note, while I think WvW needs intermediate tier titles (getting any of them right now is just ridiculous) I think there is some concern with what happened with /rank in the original Guild Wars.

You serious? You think that for that people are suddenly starting to play WvWvW with joy? What the hell do WvWvW-players do with magic find?

WvWvW needs more. It needs unlockable, fun abilities. It needs to give much much more gold. Culling has to be fixed. There should be a way to weaken the downed state (Add new Utility spells which automatically kills all downed player X meters around you?).

Honestly WvW is fun for like 30 minutes

Nothing to earn that you can’t get in Pve
No ranking system
A constant bang your head against the keyboard zerge
No real display of actual player skill
Lack of team work
Death with the only consequence is a repair bill

It so mindless, there is one target system for people to see, but no hardly even uses it, there is a 20% chance for tokens that you can get just as good gear in the pve world for a lot less effort. All you do is run around hitting player in bundle’s and once they die take over the spot they had until they come back an zerge you to death. Absolutely 0 player skill involved.

First of all the passive ones give stat boosts, damage boosts, speed boosts etc which makes for a serious inbalance in power towards the higher realm ranks. I doubt something like that will ever happen but who knows. Ascended will make sure there is a huge imbalance in WvW we don’t need something new.
Unless they scrap the idea of Ascended gear in WvW completely and give certain stat boosts, like the realm ranks, to people with higher rank, to compensate for Ascended gear. So high enough rank + Exotic = Ascended, that would make a very sensible way of adding stat boosts.
The hardest problem with that, is deciding what to do with someone that got Ascended in PVE and then goes to WvW…. food for thought.
Active abilities could work, but not in addition to current skills, that goes beyond the current philosophy of 5 weapon skills (10 with swap – there are exceptions) and 5 utilities, 10 skills total, so it’s unlikely to happen. There are already transformations in the game, or bundles like Warrior banners, so making some abilities usable when transformed into another form (obtained by WvW and usable only in WvW of course) could work very well.
Obviously, the way they make Ascended obtainable in WvW will play the most important role in everything, but I certainly hope it’s not tokens (100000000000000000 per piece? maybe more?)

Yes to non-stat boosting things, or maybe even +% EXP boost / +% Karma boost.

But not solely on Kills, this would only encourage more zerging and spawn farming. I suggest to make it co-incide with Succesful capture’s, Defense and UPGRADES!!

This way for ONCE, upgrading a structure will not simply cost you only money, which is hard to come by in WvWvW, but also give you a personal progression.

Title’s are also something that would be nice to see, the current achievement titles are basically rediculous to obtain unless you WvWvW all day, every day, for the next 2 years.

The announcement system I also like that the OP suggested, however I would not implement the downed and finished announcement, this would reveal names and could open doors to harrassment and verbal abuse towards the currently unknown player (Some take gaming way to serious, you all know this to be true.)
