Good Day all,
I would like to propose a Guild Commander function that is entirely separate from the WvW Commander title that you can buy for 100 gold. Personally, not really interested in everyone on the map being able to see where (or who) I am – but I am very interested in administering my own guild squads with a higher degree of ease.
I think that restricting a crucial raid/multi-squad function to certain ‘wealthy’ individuals doesn’t reflect the social and organizational aspect of guild wars too well.
If you are a Guild Master or Field Officer for your guild’s WvW operations, it is really frustrating not being able to handle and see multiple guildies in different squads in the minimap. Yes, having Vent/TS/Mumble on alleviates this issue – but having a clear visual indicator would still be a huge help.
How I propose this title to function:
- Make the book purchasable via the Guild Registrar, and the option available for the GM to assign which person in his guild he would like to send it to.
- The book can only be purchased once the guild has achieved Art of War Level 3/4 (a reasonable tier to reach for any sized guild).
- The book’s cost should be a combination of Guild Influence and a token amount of in-game currency.
- The Guild WvW Commander icon is a red arrow that is only visible to members within that guild, on any WvW battleground.
- The Guild WvW Commander can see all his guild members highlighted across the battle map at all times, not just members of his squad.
- The Guild WvW Commander is able to place waypoint markers and draw “tactical squiggles” that can be seen by all guild members at the time.
- The title can be turned on, or turned off, like the 100g version.
- This system can run parallel with the current 100g version with no clashes, as it only affects one guild – and the 100g Commander can still be viewed alongside the Guild WvW Commander on the minimap.
- For those that have already purchased the 100g Commander Tome, and then purchased the Guild WvW Commander Tome, they can simply choose which title they would like to turn on (Edit: Added 2:55 PM GMT+8)
I hope this proposal is seen to be a practical and useful for future consideration. As I understand it, many Field Officers just want to be able to use themselves as a clear rally point/objective marker in combat – for the purpose of delivering instructions for their own guild members.
