As someone who doesn’t like to play PvP, patch class nerfs drive me crazy. I understand nobody likes being one-shotted or feeling like they can’t do anything, but each class has its role, strengths, and weaknesses, and some classes are just better at surviving or killing than others. If you know how you like to or want to play, test out characters before you commit to one instead of complaining that other people have found ways to counter your play style. I’ve held out on making a Thief (I usually roll those first in MMOs) since they ALWAYS get nerfed first in almost every MMO. And with this patch coming up, I’m almost asking myself “Why bother?”

Here’s my thought. Since AN spent all this time giving you a “second character” to use for PvP, why not just apply the PvP nerfs to sPvP, and extend this idea to WvWvW? I feel a lot of the nerfs are a result of PvP forum QQ. The end result usually screws with light/medium armor classes in PVE since they need their high damage output to make up for low survivability.

I hardly ever hear, “Wow, we should really nerf that Thief. They helped kill that Dungeon boss way too fast.” or “Wouldn’t this Dungeon be better if our Guardian healed for less?”

Another (simpler) option could be to do away with different armor classes giving more/less defense. I’d be ok running through Orr as a Clothie with less power if I had the same defense as Heavy Armor.

I’m not saying all of the PvP or WvWvW complaints are invalid, just leave PvE alone – there already seems to be a system in place to separate the modes. Running through Orr or other Dungeons are a good enough level of challenge already. But if you have to nerf low defense classes’ damage output, at least bring our armor up to snuff so we can survive in PvE.
