Name and Gender changes are pretty much expected, and I’m betting a lot on seeing both of these added to the game in the near future, but the idea of Race changing has issues in GW2, due to the personal story.
Now, I’m not that far into the story yet, but I have cleared all the racial stories and am now part of the Order of Whispers.
As far as I know, from this point onwards the story no longer matters on what race you are, so maybe limit race changing to those who have beaten their personal racial story.

Just an idea I thought I’d throw out there, as I regret making a Sylvari engineer, but now I’m kinda stuck with it unless I want to throw away hours of play time…

I agree, lately i wish i had rolled my guardian as a Norn instead of a human. I’d buy gems if i had to just to be able to change race. But since racial quests seems to end roughly 30-40 i can’t remember maybe make race change only available at lvl 50+?

Actually, a race change would also affect skills/elites that are available to the classes. “Take Root” for instance is only available on Sylvari.

And if a player has taken points in a racial, it would simply be a matter of refunding those points back to the player on a race change. If the player had cultural armour, it would be swapped for the new race’s cultural armour.

It’s by no means easy to code, but it is feasible, and other MMOs have done race changes with little to no issue.

Devs said they already wouldn’t do this.
