Race Change
It would be a nice idea.
If you converted your race, you would keep your stats, completion, etc, but you would lose all personal story progress. You would start out in the personal story starting quest.
They have said over and over that a race change is not going to happen. Drop it.

Stop trolling they never said that. Only time they said something similar was almost a year ago when a dev said it’s not coming as in “not working on it”.
However they have always been open minded about the idea but it’s not something they are working on right now.

There are a lot of issues that come with a race change because race plays in important part to your personal story. The “another 100 threads” are from gamers who I’m pretty sure the majority of them have no idea how game design works and what ANet has to actually do and consider when changing something that is so integral to the one thing they put so much pride in.
The fact is, ANet has basically said shut up about it. So please do that already.

I am asking this because I am genuinely interested, but who waits until they’re at 80 to realise they don’t like the race they’ve chosen for their char? I discover that well before the first hour I’ve played. I’ll give it longer just to make sure I’ve not judged prematurely, but I would never take a char I didn’t like all the way to 80 – most likely not even past level 10.

Hmm, ok. Still, a race is a pretty big thing to want to change. I get changing the appearance of your char – and we have the total makeover kits for those, but the whole race? Seems a bit much, and generally I am surprised that people wait until 80 to decide they don’t like the look of a Charr, for example. But whatever, I don’t have an issue if we do get a race change option or if we don’t.

Yes you are correct but sometimes people gets bored or sees another players looking really good with their race/armor combo or for an example if your a charr and you may have noticed clipping issues and many armors looking really bad on them which is something you might not have noticed at first glance.

They are not making it up. At one point, a mod did say race change was not possible at that time.

A race change would be such a hassle, it really makes no sense to do it. The begining of they story, and some skills are tied to race, so to change it would just be messy.
No, no, no, and more no! Your personal story is based on your race, as well as your racial abilities. And to make things even more realistic…. If you can’t change your race in real life, then you shouldn’t be able to do so in-game.
