Race Changes
Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day.”
Race change will never happen, they’ll add the ability to change general cosmetics for sure and maybe a gendre change. But a Race change would just be out of the question because of the personal story.
This would be really unrealistic. Changing a race would be like changing your life. Barbers would be better.
It can be done, just means that when a player decides to change race that he understands that the personal storyline is reset, I would be prepared to go through the storyline again, it doesn’t take that long. In response to Easterlily, Barbers is an option, however, just because you change a race does not mean changing your life, As i see it this would be how it works:
Player pays 500-1000 gems for race change, Player is then warned that doing so will reset the storyline. When race change is complete, the world explored and other pve details such as crafting etc remains, only the storyline is reset and therefore a player can re-invent himself on the new storyline quest in the new form. as the game levels you up and down according to difficulty, i dont see the problem.

But I mean, how would it be possible. Changing your race. If you are born as something, you are born as it. For example, if you are chinese, you are chinese. Not indian, and you cant change that.
I would not like this feature.
Now I bet someone will say that " its a game " and people will come up with other things that are unrealistic but just think of it. It will feel wierd with people changing races all the time.
This could be exploitable. Especially for people with enough gold/cash to throw at race changes.
First you could reset your story enough times to get Priory, Vigil, and whisper armor. Not that it would be useful, but it is something that should not be done.
Also the ability to change your racial skills could be broken. Don’t ask me how. If you asked me how would it be possible to farm ectos with a monk that has 55 health 6-7 years ago I couldn’t answer. But people find a way to break things.
not sure how this is exploitable, it will be the same in all aspects of gem purchases, its quit simple, decide to change race, reset storyline and crack on, if you have all armour types then, you have all armour types (Purely cosmetic as strengths in all high level armour are the same). as for damaging the game, that unfortunately will happen in any aspect of the game, that is for game designers to sort out.

Easterlilly, Its just a game :p GW2 does not in anyway represent real life, it gives players the option thats all

When you get racial skills, the engineer counterparts get unlocked even if you are not engineer.
And races share armor visuals across professions, so you can preview any item in any character, even if their profession cannot equip that item.
This means that changing profession should be relatively easy. Provided there’s a way to ‘save’ the unlocked skills just in case you want to go back, and that you’ll have to unlock the new skills.
But race is not the same, as race is linked to your personal story.
Even if you made something up like chaos energy turning you into another race permanently to explain it in lore, then you’ll have to go on with the persona story with a different voice, unless you kept your original voice, and then we’ll have things like an Asura with Charr voice…
Too many complications.
Then you could simply start the story from scratch, but for that there’s already new character slots.
Either way, I saw an Anet post (sorry, don’t remember where) that expressly said there will never be race changes thru the gem store. Sorry to burst your bubble. Makes me a little sad too, but I can see why.
