Hi, I would really like to see the addition of race change, and/or the ability to basically remake the way your character looks, so gender change, body size change etc.

I know people have said well race change is iffy due to personal story, but there can be 2 ways around this:

1. The race change is expensive and comes with the ability to do your new chosen races story or something.

2. Just have all choices in the story that revolves around your race pickable, so like you makes the choices, but you don’t follow through with it and actually play the choices, so it will all be on paper, in other words.

Personal story, NPC Reactions, Personal story loot. Diety/background, Skill’s and elites. Theres a ton of things that are based around your race.

Edit: I also forgot the big one. It would reset your order you join.

And I do hope race change comes one day, and besides, that must be a ALOT of money arena net are missing out on, the profit to expense to make it work must be immense, would be really silly if they never added it in in my opinion.

I don’t think I’d ever use this, but I support other people’s ability to do so if they wish.

What if you race changed after your initial personal story, but before you selected which lesser race you wanted to help? Seeing as how your race decides those three choices, that could be a problem. Making you have to go back and play the first set would work, but would feel a bit like punishment to go backwards. Making you simply skip future events is an equally punishing idea.

So how about no on that. End of story.

As for the anatomical engineer showing up to give makeovers... that wouldn’t hurt at all, and will probably be implemented at some point.

You also have to look at this from a business perspective, Anet will most likely make heaps from a race change feature if they slapped a nice price tag with it, because don’t forget, they are a company.
I would assume that the amount of money that they can make from such a feature down the line will be in their interests no doubt, the profits that could be made from such a feature will surely eclipse any initial investments to get it up and running.

I can understand if Anet refuses to implement race change because of the story related to it. I just hope that character appearance change is something they consider strongly as there is no related story to it.

They have already stated that appearance change is coming to the BLTP. They dident have it for launch because it wasent ready.

I suspect you are seriously overestimating the interest there would be in a race change option.

I don’t see it being widely utilized at all.

I then think you’re underestimating, I know when I played WoW, people race changed all the time. I played on several characters across different realms, and quite often I would go “wait, wasn’t he a Dwarf a few days ago?” etc. Besides, if they are going to add character changes, then it seems really silly they don’t just do race change aswell.

It’s a personal story, you can easily work around it, you’re changing a race, not toying around with the fabric of space lol.

A race change would need to do several things:

#1: reset your personal story, which I don’t see as a big deal.

#2: switching any cultural armour you own to the proper armour, eg: exchanging Charr cultural armour for Asura cultural armour.

#3: disable the use/skinning of any order armours until you join a new one, then switching it to the newly chosen order’s armour or reactivating it if you’ve joined the same order.

#4: refunding any skill points spent on racial skills.

It’s no different from other MMO setups regarding race changes, but ANet has already shot the idea down. I’m guessing there are either limitations or some other reasoning I can’t fathom for deciding against it.

However, I, like Mjgander, believe it’s an underestimation and ANet failing to capitalize on something that would be used and used often, no matter the price put on it. There will always be players who prefer to use a single character and experience everything they can (be it personal story or racial skills) across that single character. Denying them this option is, really, a shame, especially from a business perspective.

Like I would race change right now If I could. But, due to being a bit of a slow leveler, and not wanting to reroll a new class, I’m stuck as a Norn. Which is really frustrating to be honest.
