Anet have always said you can’t change your character race.

But if you could would you be happy to lose the Achievement points and storylines and armorsets you have gotten? Because realistically those are things you would have to lose especially the Achievement points.

It’s not going to work.

I understand how you are thinking but since this is a game “realistically” does not apply.
I´m sure they could implement a race change ticket to the gem shop that lets you keep your achivements.

Also the cultural armor could automatically switch to the race you choose.

Suppose you don’t like or don’t want the armor from the new race?

Just start a new character. A lot of the fun playing a different race comes during the early parts of your storyline, when you are still in your own lands experiencing the culture. After that, invest in some XP Boosters.

The option to change race through store would be nice for those who want it.
It´s not like it would destroy your gaming experience if others could do this.
Those who are against it could just not buy it.

Why would the achievement points and story lines be lost?

Its very easy for Anet to allow race change.
Only allow it for level 80 characters that has fully completed the story line.
Cultural armor would not be transfered but can be thrown in the forge/salvaged.

And that’s it. No more, no less. Your story line would still be there, your home instance would still be the same. You would count as simply not being “homegrown”.

If you race change, you made that choice. A loss of 100g for T3 is something you have to deal with. Those that really, really want to race change wont care about such trivial things.

No its not that simple cause there is the 3 racial storyline achievements that go along with each race. And the first 25+ levels of story are basically building to that, what you would gain is that while you would keep those achievements your storyline would have to be reset to either the start or just before the first racial achievement so that your new opening racial story could be played through and when you get to past all 3 racial storyline achievements whats to stop you from doing it again and getting your 3rd, 4th and final race storyline achievements all on one character.

This is why it won’t happen and no amout of asking will change it. If your not happy with your race make a new one that is the only choice and just as it should be.
