Racial Elites
500 hours?! Holy kittens.
Anyway. Yeah, racial elites are a bit on the weak side, but I’m perfectly fine with this. If they were strong, then you’d have builds that depended on them, and all of the sudden every non-Asura Elementalist is second-tier. That’s extremely bad, and indeed was a reason why many GW1 players were very worried about this whole “races” thing in GW2.
The racials are there for flavor and for niche situations. I myself use the racial healing as a sylvari Mesmer simply because my class has no other reliable way of providing Regeneration. It’s much worse at healing than my class heals, but Regeneration also gives me Protection so it evens out.
Racial skills (elite and otherwise) are not meant to be as strong as a class-specific racial that has the same effect. The reason, as SevenSigma poitned out, is that if they were, then you would have builds that require a particular race/class combination.
What racial skills bring to the table is versatility. I can summon a fern hound on my Sylvari guardian. If I were a ranger or necromancer, this would be useless, but as a guardian, it can be quite the asset. You’re a warrior. You don’t need a golem to go toe-to-toe with the enemy. If you were an elementalist or a mesmer, you would probably have a different opinion on them, since these skills would be bringing in a playstyle not normally available to your class.

I suppose you’re both right. However I still do feel that they shouldnt just be useless because I chose an Asuran Warrior. Thats stupid. I really do feel that they should be useful on everything to some extent. Not necessarily Build Making. But at least someone useful.
