Range > Melee: A suggestion to balance
1) range projectiles are always combo finishers, where as melee aren’t
Ranged projectiles have a 20% chance to finish combos. As well, melee attacks already (usually) do more damage than ranged ones. So they are already pretty balanced.
i actually love facing ranged with my guardian, i just pop my wall and watch them just shoot themselves. not to mention my other reflect abilites.
i would like the red warning circle to be thicker or brighter(possibly adjustably so) in some areas like norn when i have a torch in my offhand the ring can be very hard to see as it merges with the edge of the torchlight
Melee is the redheaded stepchild of this game in many ways.
- Did you want to see what was going on, let alone your own charactor while fighting a boss? Haha sorry, no.
- Did you want to see the red circles of doom to be able to dodge them? Haha no, die.
- Did you want to get smacked by the boss that youre unable to even see turn around?
- Did you want to chase after the boss you can barely even see just so you can maybe hit him? (Have fun running into that lava, this doesnt change at higher levels)
The list goes on. If you have not played melee you will not know our pain. This goes tripple for the Guardian class who have the poorest ranged options in the game currently.

I think the problem is the RWC need to never be overlapped by effects. It needs to be the top layer of everything and not effected by lighting.
I agree, I hate the lacking ranged abilities of my guardian. So annoying to fight against ranged professions in wvw or pvp. It doesnt mean I never win against them, but its very exhausting and annoying. If staff had 1200 instead of 600 range it would help a bit.
I feel that melee is not too far off from where it should be. Being in melee range on a boss should be a risk vs reward move. You do more damage but are likely to get slammed in the face more. For this to happen though melee weapons would have to do more damage than ranged ones and that in and of itself would cause balance issues.
I solo as a dagger/focus Necro but in dungeons I am forced into ranged due to my squishiness. I could go in and melee like everyone else but then I would just die. So for me the reward is not worth the risk.
