Ranger Rifle?
I’m playing as Ranger, and I feel the same.
Low damage, low quickness, low…everything.
I would use Rifles as long-rage sniper weapons with really high DMGs but slow rate of fire, but Longbow/Greatsword is my style. They has no damage actually (96%crit build with ALL ON DMG traits)

I disagree. When I think of the Ranger I think of a class close to nature that would want nothing to do with inventions such as black powder .
For most circumstances I agree with the OP, the long bow sucks. The short bow on the other hand places some nice condition damage on single targets and a nice rate of fire. At least in my mind it has better dps than an engineer or a warrior with a rifle. Toss in axe/warhorn or axe/axe for multiple targets and most battle situations are handled. Keep a long bow, great sword or sword handy for those unique battle requirements and you are set.
NO, this was disc. before and we DON’T Want this! GO play thief or warrior if u want rifle, all we need is to adjust the use of longbow!
Ranger is meant to use bows as main stuff.. idk why u play ranger if u miss gun so badly .. there is engineer, warrior thief and so on play that, i don’t want to ruin original icon of ranger!.

This is exactly how I feel. The ranger already has 3 ranged weapons: axe for multiple enemies, shortbow for close to medium range single target dps and longbow for long range dps. The longbow might need to be refined but altogether the ranger does not need a fourth ranged weapon. They got plenty to work with and don’t need a rifle.
I’d actually prefer if we got staff for a support build oriented weapon. However, all our other weapons need significant buffs save maybe shortbow, which barely scrapes out the bare minimum of DPS but makes up for it by how good it is with kiting and CND.
Forget it Adine. Rangers are not hippies, and they shouldn’t even be.
Its just a way of a warrior, when you actually use agility and your mind to beat enemies.
Shooting from a distance precisely, isntead of ramming it with pure force.
If you want to be close to the digital nature, you can play Sylvari. Dig yourself onto the ground (or we’ll do), then convert CO2 into Oxygen under a rainbow.
Otherwise, there is no unique differences between races of Ranger class.
Charrs should be more “Sniper Marksman” like, while Asuras should work with some kind of the same with mystic technology. And Humans like me… well, charr-like soldierism with heroism. I don’t know yet how should it fit perfectly in GW2’s concepts.

Asura are tamers too. They find comfort in animal companions and take the natural approach for the efficiency it’s supposed to have but doesn’t because we’re underpowered.

FYI, thieves cannot use rifles and an engineer with a rifle is probably equipping it for the stats and runs around with a kit active.
That said, I don’t want to see rangers with rifles either. If any class should be a rifle wielding sniper it ought to be thief. The lore surrounding rangers does seem to prohibit the use of rifles in my mind and I personally hate listening to them in game. As already stated above, I’d like to see the expansion of rangers to better utilize the nature spirit idea rather than pulling them further from that.
I can’t agree with rifles being inappropriate for rangers. As THE primary modern weapon for hunting, it seems like a sure thing. The idea of someone out in the wilderness shooting game with their faithful companion is totally ranger-like. I honestly thought rangers already had rifles, because it makes complete sense. I’d make a ranger in a heartbeat if it had a hunting rifle (since full-plate warriors with sniper rifles feels off, and engineer rifles are more shotgun-like.)

Who are “we?” My main and first 80 is a ranger and I would LOVE to have rifle. Go to the hunting lodge in Queensdale and point out the archers? They use Rifle. I want to also.

Agreed…always played Ranger (GW1 and GW2)…Always understood that class as mainly long range fighter…never understood why “we” can’t use rifle….huntsman crafter may craft rifle but as hunter/ranger we can’t use them…..strange…personally (and I mean personally only) I was surprised to ever be able to use greatsword as to me it has more a heavy fighter/guardian feel…..And yes LongBow might need adjustment.
From the Wiki
“Rangers are flexible and durable—proficient with the bow, yet surgical with the sword. They rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature to slay their targets.”
as i said before a Ranger would shun technology such as back powder as its not something close to nature .
That quote in no way rules out rifles. Keen eyes and steady hands are integral to rifle use, and the power of nature just doesn’t apply to weapons at all.
You mean other than the fact Black Powder is not the power of nature?
Thieves don’t have a rifle… :/

Black Powder: sulfer, charcoal, potassium nitrate. Sounds like the power of nature to me. Even so, I still say no to rifle equipped rangers.
