I just recently hit level 60 on my ranger and was re-specing my traits and went to try and put Quick Draw (Both bow skills recharge faster) with Trapper’s Expertise (Traps use ground targeting and are 50% larger) and Trap Potency (Trap conditions last twice as long and traps recharge faster) together on the same trait line, but it wouldn’t let me.

My suggestion is to move one of these skills to the first tier so you can use all of them together.

It seems logical to me that a ranger would learn how to shoot faster over time AND be able to learn how to make their enhanced traps faster and be able to throw them out instead of running into the thick of things. (Assuming you believe a trap could be thrown to begin with without triggering it…which the ground targeting skill seems to imply.)

As it currently stands, you can use either Quick Draw or Trapper’s Expertise but not both.

Was this specifically meant to make it so you couldn’t be a bow user AND a trapper?

I guess the reason why they did it like that was because if you have both at the same time then it would become over-powered. If you are working in a group though then you could have one person be the trapper and the other be the bowman so that you two can get the same effect.

My first character, and main, is a ranger. I use long bow/short bow. I have noticed on occasion the short bow quick shot, she sometimes only jumps in place, and not backward, and with nothing behind her.

I also must request improved pet intelligence. Many times these things will run several meters forward and pull all kinds of things (especially in Orr), and running through their own path (such as coming down rocks/wreckage) pulling a bunch of mobs you’re trying to avoid. If we can’t improve their intelligence, can they be changed to not aggro things unless they cause damage?

I have also noticed other people requesting a balance in pet stats. I would like request the same. As of now, unless in a low level zone, I’m using bears all the time. I would like some variety, a tanky cat for example.

Other than that, I love the class.

you could say that about alot of traits… ‘it seems logical that, after thowing many pairs of grenades, the engineer would learn that a third one would do more damage’

not having the cooldown decrease doesnt prevent you from being a bow user at all (infact; i barely even use anything but the AA on shortbow, and long bow loses its effectiveness at the distance you need for thrown traps)

I use shortbow way more often than I use longbow, but that’s because I enjoy firing fast and stacking the heck out of bleed. But that tends to mean I’m always a little closer (poison shot) and could really use that short range throw on the traps to throw down a extra cripple or some more damage once in awhile. Especially when my pets go down and I’m having to do the kiting thing.

Instead I have to run TOWARDS them, or lure them to place a trap rather than just toss it in front of them. And you need the quick draw for the cripples with short bow.
