Quick fix to rangers would be to enable switching pets immediately when your pet dies, so that you can constantly have a pet up, rather than the current situation where when your pet dies you stand there gimped until the switching cool down has expired.
I think this is in line with the devs thinking that a significant proportion of a ranger’s damage should come from the pet.

And allow ranged pets like birds, etc to be able to fire from walls in wvw!

thats kind of a bad suggestion, because then it would be what it was in betas, the pet is just immortal and can slaughter everything. the fact that there is downtime on pets is important, because it makes you have to be more responsible for the pet and more to manage

The main problem with the pets is still that the text doesn’t change once charmed. This results in running across a field when you spot the pet you want only to discover he already belongs to someone. It also fools the computer momentarily when you arrive at a waypoint where a Ranger is standing with an unnamed pet, and prompts you to press F to Charm it.

ANet, please just automatically change “Juvenile” to “Pet” when charmed. That would cure the confusion.

And fix it so that each different pet can have a unique name. Right now the name seems to be tied to the SLOT you put him in; slot 1 or slot 2. I am told this is the main reason so many Rangers don’t name their pets; because they like to change pets often and the names never stick. After awhile renaming gets to be a hassle.
