Rangers Using Rifles
Wish my ele had a rifle. Lightning bolts are never wrong.
Rangers should be able to use rifles. I think of rangers as sort of a huntsman class and what does every good huntsman need? A rifle!!!! I love my level 80 ranger but the one thing he is missing is the use of a rifle. I also have a warrior and I believe that if a class that is focused on hand to hand combat can use a rifle and a longbow a class that focuses on ranged combat should also be able to use a rifle. Currently only two classes can use a rifle and almost every other weapon in the game can be used by at least three classes in some way or form. Rangers of the Guild Wars 2 community should unite and petition Arenanet to allow rangers to use the rifle.
Rifles are a stark contrast to nature and utilise engineering to be created. while the ranger is a huntsman, the ranger is also a nature worshipper/caretaker, being able to summon benign spirits that aid the ranger and their allies alongside other feats of natural phenomenon. Asking for a nature themed class to use a rifle is a contradiction to the stance of the class.

If we’re going completely off of being based off of nature then the sylvari shouldn’t be able to be warriors and use rifles.

That statement makes as much sense as saying norns should only be able to use alcohol attacks.

Exactly that’s what I’m saying.
Asura’s should be able to make and use their own gadget, suits, rayguns, special grenades, cloaking devices, time travel.
Rifles and Pistols were definately created by the Asura.
Even the charrzooka, thats property of the Asura, stolen from us.

No, there is nothing about the races that implies limitations on their class/weapon capabilities. There are logical limitations from the lore for what different classes can do.
“The Ranger is more in touch with living nature than any other profession. Where the Elementalist harnesses and tames the power of the elements, the Ranger lives as one with life in all its abundance, and utilizes unique survival skills that come from this connection.”
Rangers get bows, axes, swords, torches, pets, spirits. Engineers get rifles, pistols, turrets, kits.
also some skills on the various bows shoot definitely faster than any rifle i ever seen in game

Actually there are logical lore limitations that would prevent certain races from frequently having members of that race as certain classes, especially members of that race still part of the sovereign nation for that race. But the developers choose to ignore these reasons as they’re aware that your experience playing is more important. The same could happen with weapons if they chose to, but at this point it’s irrelevant as giving any single class a new weapon without counter-balancing their entire set and every other class in the game would be horrifyingly dumb and the developers simply wouldn’t do it. The game has too many balance issues as it stands, in the future hopefully we’ll start to see expansion with weapon sets, but right now it’s not a great idea.
what I dont get is, Rifles always shot farther then bows, otherwise, we’d be perfecting bow technology instead of gun technology in the real world we live in. The black hills example, 14 arrows could be leashed before 1 rifle was reloaded and ready to fire.
Rifles should shoot farther, but slower, arrows faster reload, means more arrows.
But those Nature boys are able to use nature to push those arrows farther then any rifle

In the Middle Ages, Rifles sucked and weren’t perfected yet. Bows however were on their way out, but were still the perfect weapons at a range. a good Archer could shoot 6-18 arrows a minute depending on which culture the archer is part of, and they could shoot upwards of several hundred yards. Good luck getting a bunch of bullets to go that far every time during that time!
Leaving the whole nature thing aside I don’t see what role the rifle would fulfil, all you would get is another power weapon vying for use alongside the longbow. My vote for either a staff or sceptre, it would fit with the nature theme as they could use nature magic, and could help the ranger into another role, in this case making a good control weapon with vines etc.

And spear guns.
I know it’s in part due to the limited weapons GW2 has for underwater use, but that doesn’t change the fact that they DO get a gun and use it. It makes a lot of the arguments against them having rifles fall flat, too.
I think Rangers will get rifles in due time. It seems like it would make sense for an asura ranger to have a rifle over a bow, anyway. Ditto that for a charr ranger. Any pet living around those cities would soon be used to strangeness and explosions, anyway.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Spearguns aren’t guns, they’re crossbows with javelins.
What about a megazord?
Does this guy use a rifle? no? That’s why.
Rangers mean you use a pet, doesnt mean you use bows but swords.
i don’t get the need of third ranged weapon, 4th if you consider main hand axe ranged.
i would like for them a magical weapon, or even something like a shield, but a rifle to do what that you can’t do already?

Aragorn had a bow too. /facepalm
Rifles for Thieves would be nice. Sniper build anyone?
I vote for wrist mounted mini-crossbows in place of pistols for rangers and a crossbow in place of a rifle. Otherwise add those two weapons as well as the rifle and pistols. And i’d like to see more agility based moves. Maybe being able to kick off an enemy for a quick stun while being able to shoot off shots at them.

Excellent point, I want a hobbit, and or gollum pet.

Everyone should just shut up about “lore”. Every weapon should be available for every class, just to add more skill variety. The number of skills currently in this game is pathetic. Don’t talk to me about balancing. Nothing is ever balanced.

totally agree with you on accuracy, also, it depends on arrow type, weight, materials arrows were made off. The old powder muskets used to have to be v packed and fused each shot. But with the Asura influence, the weapons in the game don’t under the reload the same way. They fire more at the rate of the western days with 6 shot pistols, and bolt action rifkitten lt action during the Battle at Black Hills which was a massacre, the rifles jammed way to much and got slaughter, not by the range of which the arrow wss flighted, since the enemy shot down on them from high ground, not from accuracy, but on the fact they could leesh 14 arrows versus one shot.
