Reason for Factions
Arbitrary NPC factions is one thing I do not miss. Just for the sake of doing arbitrary quest to get “faction loyalty” to get access to gear…kind of like renown hearts, only way worse. Now if faction loyalty quests actually altered more than 1 faction and some in a positive manner and some in a negative manner, and if said factions actually had something somewhat important/useful tied to them…then we’d be talking!
(Factions just for the sake of getting a “hero” is a no)
That is what your personal story is for.
A better suggestion would be to ask for the next series in your personal story. or side stories that would fit into what you are looking for
I don’t think you guys understood a single thing I said :/
They just inputted factions to the game yet there is nothing to the factions. After you joined it you only do like what 3 or 4 quests related to the faction and that’s all. Nothing more to it, so it’s not even relevant. Therefore side quests to understand the factions and things related to the faction and it can easily be incorporated into the game, each faction find clues to the next dragon and what not. Clearly has nothing to do with having heroes, but the characters that tagged along with you in the story missions were pleasant to have around when the dialogue took place. Read more into what is said then to assume what I want
And Zorby you just proved my point even further. They just inputted faction without more to it whereas what I’m suggesting adds more involvement and could lead to what you wanted because then the faction would have more reasons to them. You need to start of somewhere to progress further after all.
And Krosslite, as you said “that is what your personal story is for” well this suggestion is no different then adding a next series to the personal story because after all it is you who is doing the missions in the faction I just didn’t use your words, which once again you suggestion is the same as what I have stated but in different words.

I know. It is just more salable to Anet if you say it my way then your way. Nothing personal, just trying to make it so they may do something.
Although I agree with your idea, I wish you had used the term ‘order’ and not ‘faction’. It made it very hard to read for me, because Faction makes me think of Luxon/Kurzicks from Guild Wars Factions!
I would like to see the Orders actually mean something other than a handful of slightly different personal story missions that end up in the same place.
lol my apologies but well since you have brought up Luxon/Kurzicks; since throughout the personal story in GW2 you can see the disagreements among each order and that in itself can have some sort of pvp involvement with the “Orders”. For instance, similar to that of the Luxon and Kurzicks taking over certain territories from GW, the Orders in GW2 can take over zones or something in the sense that they would get more business because of their efficient methods of getting jobs done ext.. So merchants and so on would probably give a fair share of their income to people who belong within the Order ruling the area, or they can get discounts, stuff like that. And in order to determine who rules what would involve the usual PvP.
