Now, I know this will probably never happen but.. If it would happen Anet can charge me an arm and a leg for it and I would buy it in an instant. As to how it should be done.. well, that would be difficult of course and people’s opinions would vary but here’s my idea.

Limit the race choice to human (obviously) and disallow engineers and thieves. Limit weapons to those of Guild Wars 1, meaning a Warrior would only have access to hammers, main-hand swords, main-hand axes and shields for example. Guardians would have their name changed to monk, would wear light armor and only wield staves, scepters and focuses.

Reintroduce secondary professions. What do you gain from secondary professions? Not traits and not elite skills but weapon options, weapon skills, healing skills and utility skills. A Warrior/Ranger wielding a Longbow would thus get Long Range Shot, Rapid Fire, Hunter’s Shot, Point Blank Shot and Barrage as weapon skills.

Aside from these adjustments Guild Wars 2’s gameplay would stay intact (10 skills, no energy, dodging, jumping, boons, no hexes etc).

Now, as for how quests and zones, missions and things like that should be handled… well.. I’m not sure. I for one do not mind instancing but I know many people do. I’m not sure how well Guild Wars 2’s engine handles traditional quests and I’m equally unsure how well Guild Wars 1’s quests translate to dynamic events so I’ll leave those issues be. Missions would be similar to dungeons and the personal story so that should be easy (aside from the massive amount of work of creating it all).

Factions and Nightfal would be a bit harder that prophecies. Thieves can stand in for assassins of course but ritualists would have to be replaced by necromancers (or visually redone engineers), paragons would have to be replaced by warriors and dervishes by guardians.

Again, this is more fantasy than actual suggestion but I’d love to see Guild Wars 1 in general and Prophecies in particular getting such a treatment. Not that it would justice to it but hey, it’s something. Before you say that I should just go back to GW1 I want to say that I thoroughly enjoy GW2 and that playing GW1 I can’t help but feel that the game is outdated.

What would suggestions be if such a thing would be done?

Play GW1. There is a massive amount of posts about recreating GW1 content but this is a new game. People don’t want to see what they saw for 6 years.

I don’t there is a chance of a snowflake in hell of them doing this but I’m sure a Dev will read this post and give it due consideration. ^^

I knew someone would say this, that’s why say the following:
