Zikory – Retired Thief
Zikkro – Zergling Necromancer
This is a question/suggestion. Is there a way to turn up the brightness of the red aoe circles?
The suggestion is to make them more prominent on the ground. Mainly for uneven ground. Any time there is uneven ground or a small amount of water that covers your feet, it makes the circles almost unnoticeable.
I would like to see a adjustable bar in the settings that would allow you to brighten or dim the circles. (Mainly for damaging or non friendly AOEs but friendly areas would be nice as well, as long as they are on a separate adjustable bar)
I would like to see the visibility of the AOE circles improved, as well. I think all target visibility needs to be worked on, actually — the aoe circles, and whatever outlines/arrows/nameplates the game uses to indicate the targeted enemy.
Try seeing them with red color blindness… I wish they would give us the ability to change red → purple, and green → aqua.
ANet needs to take a cue from Carbine Studios and their upcoming MMO, Wildstar. They have a similar combat system in that both players and enemies use ground-targets to telegraph where an attack will land. The difference with Wildstar is that the target circles/shapes are filled in. So instead of a empty circle with a color outline, it is simply a red circle. It makes it very easy to see.
Doing so would also open up further visual cues by allowing different colored circles display appropriate colors when they overlap. For example if a player is casting a support spell (Blue) and the enemy is casting an attack spell (Red), the areas that are affected by both would be colored (Purple). And to compensate for color-blind players, a complete color-blind palette and cue system needs to be implemented.
Geek,
While I agree that system sounds more convenient, it also seems to lend itself better to the style of wild star, from the screenshots I’ve seen. That game takes a much more cartoon/colorful take on a game world, in my opinion, so that giant red and blue circles isn’t that distracting.
Guild wars 2 seems far more subdued, and I just don’t know how giant filled in colorful circles everything would look…think about WvW battles…maybe 30 aoes going off in total…it would be sheer madness.

if they are a magic attack, make them look like a magic circle for the whole area, making it glow. if its physical then no change really needed. they are not meant to be easy to dodge.
This is the first game i have played in awhile that didn’t have colorblind mode, most new games have it and i thank them for it, while my red vision is pretty good, if it was green i would be crying foul, however this needs to be addressed. Let us chose the color of enemy aoe indicators, Thanks.
