Hello guys! Just going to go straight to the point here, I have found a way to ‘alleviate’ the lack of high level participation aside from world map completion and dynamic events for low-level zones and the dreaded Orr which could be considered dead…no pun intended.

In a moment of enlightenment, two rather simple, independant solutions/ideas came to me, both although with different effects, if implemented together could result in more ‘spread’ participation across all areas! That just sounds fantastic huh? And although the ideas are still fresh in my mind, they are open for suggestions…

Redo Hearts

- Requirements: At least 2 Hearts completed across all zones with hearts in them.

- How it works: There would be a daily completion quest for this, where you would have to do 5 randomized hearts that you have completed at some point in your character’s questing that will give you some sort of moderate reward. These hearts will be shown as a different color on your world map (Think Blue or Red) and will turn back to yellow upon recompletion. It would effectively be repeating the same heart you did before except you wouldn’t receive a mail with a bit of money after completion nor experience, the work would count towards this daily completion reward which does provide experience and the other reward mentioned.

- Why this brings everyone back: It MIGHT not bring everyone back, depending on how good the reward is. If it rewarded the same as doing the daily kill completion, in my humble opinion that would be a bit too weak of a reward to merit the effort. If it gave something akin to a Magnificient Chest, perhaps a bit too high, the reward would have to be thoroughly addressed. However, the idea is that there would be people of a higher level or max level that would come back and bring the ‘MMO’ vibe that might be lacking in some areas…cough

Weekly Orr Temples

- Requirements: Only if you are capable of surviving and taking on at least 2-3 Orr Temple Events to the end!

- How it works: Right now, even on high population servers there is a lack of interest in…Orr. For obvious reasons no one would even touch the place now with certain events nerfed in the farming department. This hurt participation in Temple events, which means Orr is a zombie-wasteland 24-7. Some eternal battle right?

So, make Retaking the Temples or Defending the Temples part of a weekly completion reward! Three times sounds plenty and its pretty self-explanitory. You get credit for successful retaking of any of the temples and that counts as credit towards a really nice reward for the week. How nice though? Good amount of silver, couple rares, maybe even an exotic…or better. Wink Wink

- Why this brings everyone back: I despise with a passion that we have all our 80s chilling in LA, regardless of preference they could at least have a worthwhile, dangerous location that could reward them on many fronts. Make the temple captures worth it, especially if they have to do it a couple times during the week! This will no doubt raise activity in Orr if players knew they were getting better rewards than from normal Dragon kills.

ANet…Whether you like this idea or not, Orr does need a population bolster. In the attempt to eliminate “farming” Orr, that patch also dramatically reduced the healthy population in Orr (and by healthy I mean those completing events or anything else that can be productive). Not only is it near impossible to complete temple events these days, but Arah is rarely open for business. I personally enjoyed Arah on explore mode, but have not had the chance to even touch that dungeon since the patch.

The Temple one sounds like a really good idea. I haven’t been back to the Orr area in weeks and I never did any Temple events. If I knew they were being done on a regular basis, especially with a reward like the Zaishen quests in Guild Wars 1, it would be a real incentive to go back there.

Not so sure the heart one would work out, the hearts are more a solo objective. Perhaps a requirement to do a certain number of events in a certain level area. For example, one week do x number of events in a level 1 to 15 area. The next week, a different level area.

This is a pretty good idea.

3-5 completely random picked hearts per day will make you move around more and I`m sure once you`re at a heart, why not do the event near it for some karma right? This way more people everywhere in the world map.

This is a very very good idea! I miss some of the old areas but going there now is just a waste of time, make it worth it.

Hearts

I suggested something like this, but had a number of different tasks (Hearts, Different Events, Bounty) that gained you rep with that area, that would progress a title track [Assistant / Hero / Saviour / Paragon of said area] that would lower waypoint costs across that area.

Weekly Temples

I like this idea (although Frostgorge Sound is my home ATM). It’s also given me inspiration for another idea where you have a number of things to do as a Daily Requirement, and the more you do, the more rewards you get.

The lowered Waypoint one sounds like a neat added incentive. As for the hearts one I can relate to those being a ‘solo’ questing however some zones have events near hearts that are worth teaming up for, or the map chat might be asking for assistance in some areas. Since Orr doesn’t have any hearts, the incentive to do temples brought about my next suggestion idea.
