For we have held fast our ground and our loyalty to Tyria each and every day…
And it is time the Six show their blessings. Freedom for ALL doers of great and wondrous things!
As an achievement hunter, and one who hopes to stay competitive in the AP leaderboard, I spend a large portion of my GW2 time just doing all the dailies. Some days are better than others for this, as any AP hunter will tell you. But I miss just being able to get on and play. Between 15-18 dailies every day and the often time-sensitive Living World achieves, I’m rarely able to get on and do WvW or farming or whatever. I’m pretty stoked with the current Living World achieve being as easy as finishing the daily 10 days, which I already planned on doing. For the first time in what feels like a year, I can just play sometimes. But I’m asking this: If a player only needs to complete 5 dailies for the reward chest, why not only award the 1AP for those first 5 dailies? I miss when dailies were those original 4 and they were all complete in < 30 minutes…
Dailies shouldn’t reward AP at all.
So you’re upset that ANet has a system in place to reward players for going out and playing the game in whatever area they like and rewarding those who can only get to one or two during their play session due to their time limits and play style.
All because you’re chasing for being high on a leadership board and don’t want to risk not doing the dailies for the high AP reward to time?
Then your suggestion removes the partial AP credit for the dailies for those who can’t complete them all?
Personally, before the change to Pick 5 out of X method for dailies, I NEVER was able to get a daily. Because I don’t play WvW. I don’t do dungeons or never did the right path on the days they were up (because I don’t believe in going out to do the dailies, the dailies occur as I play what I want).
Now the dailies might affect where I play. I may choose to work on a map in Shiverpeaks instead of Kryta on days where it’s rewarding a Daily for kills in Shiverpeaks. I may choose to play my low level alt on a day when the personal story is in the daily or leveler.
But I don’t specifically kitten, my goal is to hit these 5 dailies and I will go out of my way to do them. Now, if I find I’m close as I’m about to log off, I might go out and chase down one achievement if it will put me at completing the dailies if it’s been mostly finished already.
Maybe try going at the dailies by a different approach? Spend most of your time out doing what you want to do. And see how many of the dailies get filled just by doing what you want to do.
I dislike the OP’s suggestion. Achievement Points are a big part of why even I do my dailies. I like it how it is now.

Really? What you are asking for here is basicly: remove the effort I have to make for staying on top of the leaderboard. That doesn’t sound right in my book.

That’s been suggested before, and I’m honestly to the point that I wouldn’t mind that.

Um.. What?? None of that makes sense to me or pertains to what I was saying.

I pretty much do that now, trying to combine dailies where I can. Story dungeon + Ascalonian kills = AC story. That kind of thing.

I didn’t mean it to come across that way, I just meant that some days the dailies can take several hours, and by then I don’t want to just play anymore or I’m exhausted from also holding down a full time job. People tell me I have no life and I tell them I wish I had less of a life so I can play more lol :\
the daily’s are OPTIONAL. if you want to ‘just play’ then just play. you don’t have to do the daily if you don’t want to.
Absolutely not, it’s pretty much the only reason why most people do them at all. Being able to play every day is an achievement as well, wether you like it or not.

Sorry, It “is” what you said. And it “is” what you meant. Doesn’t matter how you wanted it to come across. What your saying is you want to be a top player by collecting all the AP. For that I wish you the best in your efforts.
However when you say your not enjoying the game because your hunting them all down and its taking alot of time I can’t bring myself to feel sorry for you. You only need the five for your daily. After that the extra effort to make you feel like a top player is on you. As we all know its not required. You are not the only one who has to work long hours. Many of us do. And to say that because you “can’t” or “won’t” put the effort into collecting all the AP that Anet should not allow anyone else to do it either is simply bull kitten.
It comes down to this. If you want to be a top player. If you want the Max points you have to be willing to work at it. If you are unable or not willing to, it is you’re fault not the system. To deny the option for those players who are working towards chest is not fair, doubly so if its for no other reason then you want to feel special about being a “achievement hunter”
