Quite frankly, I’m surprised I haven’t seen this brought up. Tier three cultural armor specifically is way overpriced, considering that most people only get the armor for their looks anyway rather than the stats. A single piece of tier three culture gear can cost up to 30 gold from the vendor, while tier two goes up to two and a half gold. That’s a pretty huge jump in price for a piece of cosmestic gear, not even of exotic quality, that should be available to everyone of that race.

Wouldn’t it be possible to reduce the price of tier three armor to maybe five gold max, so that it’s not such a huge jump in price between tiers?

They are tied up to the “The Emperor” title / achievement… They are aimed for those that really have cash on the bank no matter how funny looking some are. I doubt that those who invested 645g in the past would be happy if this move is made. I have been in the game since release and there are people who even bought T3 pieces even when the gem to gold coversion was at 400gem : 1g. Mostly for bragging rights… It is comparable to an Apple product here in Tyria =)

They’re deliberate gold sinks that are supposed to be for show/bragging rights. They’re not supposed to be for everyone to run around in. They’re not much different than dungeon sets in that regard expect instead of tokens, it costs gold.

There are plenty of other gold sinks already in the game.

your paying 100g + for armor that is not even exotic so if you want to actually fight in it you would have buy transmutation stones which atleast 6+ g on top of it.

Legendaries/Titles are for show/bragging rights. I wouldnt mind something like legendary armors. But they cultural simply arent that , they arent even exotic.

I dont see why you have to pay 100g+ just to look like your own race. (which isnt much to brag about)

If you can’t get enough gold for cultural sets now then you’re doing something wrong. Besides as people have said the emperor title would lose all meaning. If you can afford the armour then you can afford transmutation crystals as well.

I personally won’t buy it because its over priced. I think at the very least it should be exotic armor. As it is you have to immediately transmute the looks to better armor. Not worth it to me.

If it was exotic and had undesirable stats you would need to transmute it anyway.

I don’t mind the cost, but I do think it’s ridiculous that it’s not exotic armor. It’s all right for t1 and t2 armor to be rare, but at the cost of t3 armor, it’s not like that’s ever going to be an efficient way to acquire exotics, so there’s no serious harm to the economy in making them exotics. I think we’d survive letting you pick your own stats once with them as well, now that that the stat-determining drop-down from the old Magic Find items is a practical solution for that. Honestly, t3 armor feels like something that was costed and statted before launch and then just fell behind, as people could acquire exotic armor relatively easily.

If I’m already dropping ~20g/piece on armor, I can probably afford to shell out a bit more for transmutation crystals, but it’s still a poor experience to have to do so. At those prices, t3 armor is luxury gear, so it would be nice if it got some luxury treatment. Heck, even making them armor skins instead of armor would be more agreeable, because anyone with that kind of money is probably already wearing exotic armor of their own.

It’s not very high-priority, but it would still be nice to see t3 armor updated a bit. It’s a shame it’s such a hassle, despite its cost.

But what if you’d want to equip multiple characters. That quickly runs into 100s of G’s.
What if you dont play as much etc etc. In a game which promoted itself as ‘no grind’ its simply weird.

So people who already pull out +100g have to spend even more to viably use their armor. Great , kick em while their down.

This is a weird time to choose to throw the whole “they said there would be no grind” thing around. I do agree by the way. They did say that. However, grinding is, sadly, now a large part of this game and would be whether cultural armor existed or not.

Again, T3 armor is not supposed to be for everyone to run around in. Sorry, it sucks. I know. It’s just the way things are.

Well, think of it this way. If you dont have enough money to buy the armour, then you aren’t supposed to be able to wear it. Its a showoff item for the rich.

Actually I think its too cheap. Most expensive armor set in this game? 119 gold, but many weapons which costs 100s or even 1000s.
I already destroyed my T3 armor because too many people have it.

To OP – I get garbage drops so have to gather wood, ore and ingredients or kill world bosses for my cash and only have t3 Norn left for the title. It doesn’t really take that long to save up.
