While I do like the flavor that NPC conversations add to the world, I think they can get stale and repetitive in certain areas where the player is likely to be around for a long amount of time. I speak of course of things like banks, crafting stations, and trading posts (especially the ones in Lion’s Arch, where all the Level 80 characters tend to gather). These ideas would reduce the amount of voice clutter I think:

(1) Double the length of time in between NPC dialogue in these areas

(2) Move NPCs that trigger spontaneous dialogue somewhere else or reduce the radius in which their dialogue can be heard.

(3) For certain NPCs that are interfaced with often (like the Lions Arch banker), make the voice clip for triggering the NPC play locally only for the player that triggered it.

I would appreciate an option that EQ2 has in it’s settings, was to hear NPC calls outs only once.
