The Only One [ONE]
Piken Square EU
Hello all,
I am sure that this has been mentioned numerous times but I couldn’t find any threads about it.
During the press beta and all subsequent betas, one thing kept being said which I feel has been ignored. Just about everyone I speak to agrees that skill animations are much too large, in many cases completely obscuring the enemy I am trying to fight.
Reducing these effects (or adding an option in the graphics settings) would achieve two things:
Melee would be more viable when fighting bosses. Players can identify attack animations and time dodges effectively. Not to mention setting up a backstab as a thief is tricky when you can’t see the boss so have no idea if you are in front or behind.
I also believe this would greatly improve FPS for many players during world events and especially during wvw. I have noticed that even in dungeons, my fps is less when I have an elementalist or a mesmer in the group.
Please feel free to lock this thread if this is already being addressed.
There’re two small arguments against that concept:
1.) Especially in PvP, there’re folk who think the animations aren’t enough, especially for Asura.
2.) Some players enjoy their flashy effects.
Now, I’d not be adverse to a slider setting, as they’ve recently done for WvW models.
This way, everyone “wins.”
Good points Advent, although I am talking about skill effects so my title is perhaps misleading. Granted, when a thief goes for CND the animation is a good tell and I think things like this should stay. However, when a boss fight looks like I am fighting a giant ball of colour, I think this detracts from the overall feel of the game.
I think a slider (or just a checkbox) would be the best bet.
A particle effect slider would, indeed, be a great addition.
