I know that you guys at Arena Net are probably saving dragon related content for future expansions, but something that’s bothering me is just how little a threat they seem these days.

After Zhaitan was defeated, the events that followed were the reveal of Southsun, the Molten Alliance, returning to Southsun and going after some “known” villain who nobody has ever heard of, and now we’re celebrating a dragon festival? I can totally understand wanting to carry over the dragon festival from the GW Factions days, but I imagine if you were hosting some huge event taking place in the city that holds gates to all the major cities, then people who have lost loved ones to the dragons would cause an uproar that’s louder than the dragon hologram in LA.

How long exactly have the other dragons been causing problems? Kralkasaurus? Godzilla? Primordus? Honestly it seems like the dragons are becoming less relevant to the GW2 story as time goes by.

With the new temporary content that keeps being added, couldn’t we get a story or two that reminds the citizens of Tyria that “Oh yeah, the dragons are still totally a huge threat.” Such as the Branded attacking the Black Citadel every few hours, or the Destroyers unearthing below Rata Sum and scaling the walls to attack, again, every few hours. Even if the event just revolves around figuring out how the Dragons’ minions are getting into the cities and stopping them would be enough, I think, to remind everyone that the dragons are still a big deal.

just a guess, here, but i would (if i were the developers) save future other-dragon content for expansions. and we do know they will be doing expansions; it seems logical to me.

for myself, i’m about overwhelmed with the constancy of the changes in the world, that aren’t dictated by the dragon menace — it’s like they’re saying, “yeah, the dragons are bad news, but they ain’t the only baddies on the block.”

I’m not saying to necessarily have us go charge into Jormag’s lair and beat his face so hard that he becomes a blood dragon instead of an ice dragon (har har), but I wouldn’t mind seeing some events that pertain to the dragons directly so people are reminded that the dragons are still a huge threat.

The easiest target would have to be Divinity’s Reach what the huge hole in its wall, so why can’t one of the dragons say “Hey let’s strike at the heart of the Humans” and send forces through that? Yeah most of them will probably fall to their deaths in the great collapse, but the ones who don’t will be causing a major, major problem within the city.

My point being, we don’t need to march up to their front door and ring the door bell, but we can knock over some lawn ornaments in the mean time.

The “criminal” in Southsun IS known, both to the people in-game and the players that played back in November.

And said uproar is quite clearly taking place. There are quite a few people shouting about it in Lions Arch.
There is also a reason why it is Dragon Bash rather than Dragon Festival. It is also quite likely that the
attack on the Effigy ceremony was made by people that really didn’t like the idea to “celebrate” the dragons
