Because of the poor design decision to separate the EU and NA brackets, Coverage is the dominant factor in every single match.

If your server has more coverage during your opponents downtime you win. Plain and simple.

People are starting to care less about winning, and just want to go out, roam around, and randomly kill people.

Objectives are losing all of their meaning. What’s the point? You spend all that gold to upgrade something that is going to get taken when you’re not there.

Leave the supply cost, but remove the gold cost. Allow the objectives to just get built if they get enough supply. There is already the gold sink for repair bills, and siege equipment, there does not need to be any other gold sinks in WvW.

WvW participation is struggling. Across most servers. I would love to see the statistics of all of the Full Servers, with their corresponding WvW populations. Something needs to be done. If you (Arenanet) want WvW to be more accessible, then you need to make it more accessible by removing the costs associated with upgrading.

Thirdly, If they remove the cost, everyone will just press anything to upgrade
For example, Putting Oil to build on a newly taken tower/castle and not the walls.

There are enough gold dumps in this game. Why are the WvW’ers the only one hit with this gold dump? Why don’t the pve’ers have an equivalent gold dump? And people do that any ways. Eventually people will learn what the proper sequence is.

if someone wants to troll, gold price isn’t going to stop them. This is also about the overall health of WvW. Something needs to be done WvW is dieing.

About covering costs… that’s all it does. People don’t like spending their gold, so thus, things don’t get upgraded, nor is siege ever built unless it’s the same people doing so.

I’ll admit that I hesitate to purchase any upgrades because of how quickly things can be taken and I’m not online all the time to defend it.

I think removing the cost would be good enough.

I wouldn’t remove the costs entirely, but I’d definitely be happy to lower the prices

As for upgrades not being done anymore though, that’s not the case for Sanctum of Rall at least, as soon as we capture something we instantly start upgrading it (for the most part) i rarely ever see 1 of our places un-upgraded

But yes, the gold costs are pretty ridiculous…fortifying a keep is just kitten 1.5gold? lol come on, definetely needs to be lowered or taken away

The fact that it is an individual cost/commitment for a server-wide benefit… that what makes it unfair.

The entire server PvE/sPvP/WvW should be contributing to a pool of upgrade resources that can then be drawn upon for upgrades. This pool should have both a spring fed source as well as both a participatory source based upon event completion and contributory source based upon sacrifice or donation.

The server pool should be visible for everyone and there should be no individual shame or personal consequence for spending the resources in WvW where they are purposeful and meaningful.

This is not rocket surgery.

Yeah. There is not a lot of merit to this. It’s always the same people contributing for what reward? Why is this an individual effort?

I think the costs should stay in, there needs to be gold sinks that take cash flow out of the game or else you end up with everything being ungodly expensive cause all the money earned stays in the game and only gets distributed between players. I honestly can’t remember a time I bought something with coins that wasn’t at the TP, thus the money stays in circulation.

Game economics aside, I’d be all for getting keeps flipped not make it so you lose completely everything, cause so far people like to capture keeps and towers just to get rid of their upgrades. Maybe have a timer, if one team can recapture before so many hours they get some upgrades back. May actually promote servers to actually defend newly captured things instead of just capturing them to get rid of the upgrades.

Oooor add an achievement for buying upgrades for stuff in WvW, you’d no doubt get the perfectionists who have to get EVERYTHING buying upgrades.
