Remove Culling or Make it optional
This is a problem in many areas, not just WvW. PvE dynamic events are just as bad.
In no way saying I disagree with your request though…. I just wanted to add that it effects the entire game where there are numerous players / NPCS and lots of spell effects going on.
Thank you for adding that I was unaware

Currently you don’t fight enemies, you make them fight the server settings, that’s not fun.

That post isn’t quite the same they talk about other issues than just culling. However this is purely about culling and how it impacts computers on the entire spectrum.
Also I would love the Dev who posted there to explain why I with a 512/512 data 3 ssd 16 gigs, a 670gtx, and an i7 3770 cull the same as people with weak setups comparatively. Clearly the part you said about what a persons comp comp does is very different. There shouldn’t be any server determined culling it should have a slider for render distance like everyother mmo. Ohh and I have buisness class which is 60mbps down and 15 mbps up.
This issue is becoming more and more detrimental to the game as it goes onward with more and more people joining wvw. There either needs to be a special situation enacted in WvW that replaces player models with lower texture defaults but has them all at once. Or they could allow players to still show off their outfits and things like that in wvw but have two texture depths that you can toggle between based on distance, an example would be that the textures are rendered in the lowest possible setting at 100 yards but at 20 yards it begins to render in individual models in at higher textures one at a time. Something else than this method must be enabled because the invisible player issue is very detrimental to the immersion that you get in a MMO game when looking across a massive battlefield, only to find an empty place with nothing but spell effects flashing.

To me it has more to do with impacting my enjoyment of the game than breaking my immersion. I’ve sometimes jumped straight into the fray when I saw like perhaps five or so enemies distanced from one another, only to find out seconds later that I just jumped into the middle of a horde and am promptly killed.

It is important that people also understand that this is actually a CHANGE…. I used to see everything and then they patched in the culling and BAM.
I really hope they change this soon. It wrecks the game for me :|
Any news yet on changing the culling back to the way it was at launch?
Obligatory move to the top until fixed.
They already made a comment on it (finally) I cant find it but just know that they did recognize it as an issue.
Agreed, this is very annoying running at “3” people only to find out moments later that you have actually run into ~20. Fun times!
