im an explorer. i like to immerse myself in the game while combing the world with no rush. what really bothers me is say a mountain or hill that is just begging to be climbed. or maybe a secret crevice that could allow access onto a platau, something no one has seen before. areas littered with buildings etc.

why should there be an impedance on our exploration? its bad enough that every single map is surrounded by cliffs, it looks ridiculous but i let it slide. invisible walls are just a kick in the pants, please remove them.

So, you don’t like cliffs and you don’t want invisible walls?

You do know that the game can’t be unlimited in size, right?
They NEED to have ways to “end” the map.

I have yet to encounter a single invisible wall for that matter.

Yes i know that the game has limitations however that is not what i am asking for. I am asking for leniance for role players and immersers. when you look on the world map its just a bunch of large squares everywhere, no effort was given to make the world map actually fit together and look realistic. this is what i am refering to by cliffs.

invisible walls are not limitations they are barriers. you have not been exploring as much as i have evidently because i happen across full stop’s everytime i climb a scalable looking rock that could get me to higher places.

Theres a Vista in Lornar’s Pass that has a hill that looks like the obvious way to get the Vista but there’s invisible walls so you have to kind of crawl around the side instead. I’ve not really found many apart from that though.

I played a game recently that was hellish for them, even objects on the ground had some weird invisible barriers around them that made me get stuck when trying to jump over/onto. Not annoying in the slightest when I was attacked

I’m at my third zone 100% explored, doing the fourth, and have yet to find even a single invisible wall.
Well, I’m sure there are some, but I suspect you’ve just been quite unlucky up to now.
And we can all bear with some technical limitations here and there :-)

so you don’t want mountains around the maps, nor do you like invisible walls? so you like to be able to jump out over the edges of the map i assume then?…
Trust being outside the edges of a map is not fun, as a mesmer i tried that a LOT (stupid teleport bug(though that big has gotten better than it used to, thought that would be for another thread))

There’s a vista up on the volcano’s mouth in Mount Maelstrom. While there are plenty of spaces around the mountain’s sides that are quite climbable, often you are met with an invisible wall (as in it’s not just a matter of not being able to complete a jump up to an edge or a slippery slope preventing your character from keeping a footing and, thus, falling) so that there’s basically only one real way up to it.

It’s true that I haven’t met too many instances like this, so it’s kind of glaring when it happens, but they’re are some there that aren’t just at the edges of maps to contain a zone.

I don’t think it’s worth crusading over, though. The world is far more explorable than other MMOs, as the fact that we have vistas and PoIs should built into the game should also attest.

You can make a game map without invisible walls or cliifs around it... One way is to make the map an island with deep water.

I feel i have to accept these things as they will n ever change in this game. its the way it was designed and nothing will change that.

However imho I really hate "zones" and prefer seamless open world enviroment like in asherons call for instance...

problem is when there is invisible wall on the cliff in the middle of the map. i agree with the OP… it is annoying, nothing else. i climb the cliff and there is no indication of cliff going steeper or anything, but suddenly there is a wall… i dnt like

you know we can swim in this game right? so the island idea simply do not work, beside it would seem stupid if every single zone was a island

The invisibles walls are there. I am an explorer myself. So many times I may come across a slope of a hill that I know for a fact is climbable, I can not get on that slope do to an invisible wall.

Removing them however, may be a bad Idea do to exploiting a certain zone to avoid mobs. Mobs that the devs place, and want you to engage just to reach an objective. If there where no invisible walls then anybody can get a full map completion, without once engaging a mob.

Look at the Karka event before the initial event. The Hive entrance was blocked by rocks, however if you want to the far right of the rocks there was hole in the invisible wall enabling players to get inside the hive, before the event blew them rocks up. I seen a zerg on the other side of that rock wall in the hive, that was suppose to be blocked off with rocks, and an invisible wall.

So Exploiters will exploit if giving the chance to.

I totally agree with removing the invisible walls on the props in the middle of the zones. I understand the need for them on the edges, no complaint there. But like many said there’s some spots in the middle of zones with walls for no apparent reason, there’s really nothing close enough to use the high point to exploit anything, it just impedes exploration. And for those who say there’s no invisible walls everywhere or you’ve never seen them: I can 100% guarantee there’s tons of them all over the place in spots the are clearly scalable but are blocked off. If there’s some part of the map back there they just did a shortcut on and never developed, that’s fine but when you can clearly see plenty of land behind it there’s really no reason for the walls. So this has my vote. Keep the zone edge walls and cliffs, that’s fine, but don’t block some of the more interesting landscape within the zones for no apparent reason.
