Reading a lot of your interviews pre-launch your philosophy seemed to be “Is this fun?”

Having logged in for hhhrm i think the past 6 weeks to find we were allocated the exact same position in the WvW maps, I can tell you that trying to get the World Completion medal is not fun. In fact it is downright irritating.

I have done all the donkey work and completed everything I need to complete out in PvE but now to get my medal and Legendary weapon item I just have to cross my fingers each Friday and hope that our server is given the right spot in WvW so that I can unlock otherwise unreachable areas of WvW.

No skill involved. No hard work to be rewarded. Just dumb blind luck. Sort it out.

The work you did in PvE was donkey work… so no skill involved, just grind.

The skill involved now is participating in WvW during the offensive assault that claims the capture location in which your missing POI is. That’s not dumb blind luck, it’s fighting against people who can out-think players that are trained on fighting transparently obvious patterns in PvE AI.

Welcome to Guild Wars 2, where the PvE crowd can’t figure out how to WvW well enough to get map completion, the WvW crowd has mostly only bothered to complete all four WvW maps, and the s/tPvP crowd mostly hasn’t bothered to take a character to level 80.

Unless you’re on a server that routinely crushes the other two in Eternal Battlegrounds, you don’t have any choice for unlocking the keep POIs/vistas other than waiting for server reset and hoping that you are given the right corner of the map.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the EB keeps change hands, and if our server was capable of taking the enemy keeps I would love to be able to get the missing POIs that way.

You need to do both pvp and pve to get Legendary weapon otherwise you do not deserve to have it.
No skill involved? lol it’s definitely need more skill then killing AI.

I’d rather make it even harder to get map completion in WvW and make it flat out impossible to get badges through PvE means like the jump puzzle.

You were around during free transfers so you should have transferred to another server for a week and completed it then. If you already have the gift of battle I’m surprised this didn’t occur to you. I transfered for a week to get 99% WvW map completion on my 4 level 10 alts, and there were many other people there also doing map completion at the same time.

I would suggest paying the gem cost to transfer over to a server like Kanieng or another server set to dominate their tier. Sure it costs a bit of gold but only a fraction of what it costs to get a legendary.

I Would have to agree with the OP WvW should be removed from Map Exploration and such.

Allso claiming YOU SHOULD JUST CHANGE SERVERS
is basicly known as free boating and such … its allready cause for alot of problems in WvW along with so many other things.

WHY Should you have to swich servers or wait blindly to get the right cornor to get map completion?

I Would have to agree with the OP WvW should be removed from Map Exploration and such.

I agree with your thoughts on server hopping. Everything else is wrong.

When I said no skill involved, I meant there was no skill involved in waiting to get the correct keep each week when WvW reset which is the only option for a lot of people.

Of course there is skill involved in playing WvW, but you can be the most skillful player in the game and you’re still not getting map completion unless your server is capable of taking enemy keeps in EB.

In hindsight yeah I probably should have used the free transfers whilst I had the chance, but that is not helpful now nor for future alts. As it stands you can pour a lot of time into achieving 99% map completion but then you are at the mercy of luck when it comes to WvW reset or the collective skill of your server to capture the home keeps in EB, which frankly never happens on our server.

no luck man. if you’d ever followed wvwvw you should know that position isn’t random.
green for the first, blue for the second and red for the third in the tier.
don’t whine. yust roll up your sleeves and fight for your server.
you want green keep? fight for being the first in your tier.
you want blue? fight for being the second in your tier (lol that sounds awful)
you want red? …

I did not know that about the keep colours, thank you.

So our server permanently has green keep. I am missing the blue EB keep poi/vista. I should fight for coming second place in my tier down from first. Thanks, invaluable advice.

if you are strong enough to be green, why don’t you organize with other people to help you with this keep?
just conquer it to take the poi/vista and then leave it alone if you want…

i wish games involve pvp more into making “gear” than grind.

I don’t see the problem with wvw maybe take off the eb keeps for vista/poi, Cause i gotta admit.. its hard to ever get that unless its a thursday and your server faceroll them.

If you accomplish getting all the pve done. maybe switch to a server that has the keep you need?

For the most part.. most of the matches are already known by thursday. Usually top rank server = green, medium = blue and lower server = red.

Yes well, if you’re in the unfortunate position of being in green all of the time I would suggest you buy some stacks of flame ram blue prints then goto each tower and keep starting from the furtherest from your spawn point and build rams until there is no more supply in the towers or keeps.

This will have the added advantage of advancing one of your WvW achievements so you get two benefits from the one activity. If you do this regularly enough then you should get to blue keep one week. I would also recommend building the rams on the same wall as the gate until there is no more space for any more rams.

I will agree if we can also remove PvE maps.

TLDR. QQ already. Legendary is a prestige item. It should be hard to get. You should need to try every aspect of the game. What it needs is a gift of sPvP and to remove badges from the JP.

Quite the contrary. It requires TONS of skill, TONS of hard work, and very little dumb blind luck. It’s just that it requires those things from more than just you. What did you expect from an MMO called “Guild Wars”? What part of “Massively Multiplayer” passed over your head? Read the game description next time before you buy it and all will be better.

I agree that World Exploration should not require WvW. Exploration is a very PvE-esque concept anyway. They should, however, add something required for legendaries that better represents the “spirit” of WvW. (X number of keep takes/defenses, X number of supply camp flips, etc etc). Something like that, in addition to badges (remove any way to obtain these other than player kills) would better represent mastery of WvW.

Requiring you to get WvW 100% is inorder to make sure you have and understand WvW which obviously you do not by your “blind dumb luck” statement about corner spawn points in EB. It is all based on what place you are in rankings. Top server is green. 2nd is blue and 3rd is red.

And on another note I find doing dungeons runs and collecting all item boring so I want them removed from getting my legendary. All I should have to do is WvW map completion. <yes that was sarcasm >

The purpose of WvW being involved in Map completion is a smart move by Anet. Does it force you mmm yes if you want the legendary then you go to get it done. They just want to get other people to try or experience another part of the game so they can see if they like it or not.

I don’t like map completion at all but I had to do it to get the legendary. Its like badges of honor or heck any other thing.

I don’t like crafting but I need 2 crafts for the legendary so I had to do it.

Then take away the pve side for me and let my three toons with 100% wvw map complete not have to wade through the mind numbingly easy pve maps. Deal?

I’d be fine with the WvW map being part of the map completion if it just didn’t feel impossible for me. I’m on FC and there is just no way that we can capture enough of the map and little to no hope that this will change. It’s not really a matter of not trying hard enough.

Remove PvE as a pre-req for Legendaries.

Remove the rest of the world from world completions.

Kinda sick of this silly request. You think it sucks you have to do WvW for your world completion, as a WvW player i thought it sucked i had to do all those kitten heart events for world completion.

Suck it up. Legendaries are already 90% PvE.

Start up a Guild named…. Map Completion Group. Or better yet, get involved with your server’s WvW battles.

WvW was the last place I went to for map completion… I got it done and I haven’t really returned to the PvE world since. PvE map completion was torture… WvW was FUN.

I am out there every single day but ya know what our server is always at the bottom, our server kind of SUCKS and so week after week we can never take said points.

This would be all fine and dandy cept transfering takes around what $25 now and why the F would I want to leave my friends who play on this server?

Sad part is some servers just suck at pvp and wvw

no amount of skill can make you get into the main enemy fort. You cannot get a 5 man group and do it, you need to rally an army. then you gotta have your trebs, carts and cata in the right place.

this requires at least 20 odd people.

So not, he is right, it is dumb luck, because unless you live in guild wars, it is not possible to do break into their last fort.

I agree with the OP here…

I like WvW so it was no big deal for me to get all the Points of Interest and skill points in the Border lands and EB.. However, I can see it being a real pain in the kitten for someone who doesn’t like to Pvp to have to try and get those Points of Interest and Skill points.

Leave the skill points in the the Pvp areas, make them a “Bonus” for Pvp Players, But don’t require players who do not like to pvp to ever Have to set foot in the Borderlands.

You just need to do more WvW.

I am in desolation. That is currently up against Viz and Elona, as it has been for a while. That is, tier 1 WvW fight. You’d think that the 3 are quite well balanced? Well, they are, but things happen, and even now Deso is in danger of losing our keep, after Viz came at us with 7 golem blueprints. (As 1 omega and 2 regular golems)
Well, they failed since we are way better players, but still, they came close to capturing our keep.

And ofc there is the whole nightcapping (some people sleep), morning capping (some people head to work), daycapping bussiness (some people are at work.). And then the primetime fights. (Pretty much everyone is there)
