So, opened my achievement reward chest today, only to find I got 3 basic PVP weapons – the ugly ones you can get for free anyway from the PVP vendors. Isn’t this an odd reward for accumulating points?

It gives you random PvP items out of any available PvP items (don’t think it drops limiteds, though).

I know that’s how it’s been programmed, but don’t you think they should exclude the starter stuff you get for free in the beginning? I mean it’s meant to be a ‘rewards’ chest after all!

it’s not the starter euipment, in fact you cannot salvage or deposit the starter equipment, unless i’m mistaken some of this rewards even if they are simple called pvp sword for example, can be salvaged and deposited

Yes, it’s NOT the starter, though it shares same names. It’s ‘Free tournament’ rewards, so you can get free tournament tokens sometimes when salvaging this stuff. Good luck on it though.
