Remove repair cost!!
I would love it if they reduced the repair costs, but without them there is no reason to worry about dieing. I have many times done suicide runs to kill siege 2 or 3 times to keep attacking forces from succeeding. It has worked many times. I have done all of this in spite of the repair cost. If there was no repair cost there would be no punishment for tactics like this.
P.S. Shoutout to Yoda my suicide siege killing partner!!!

If anything, make it so dying is even harsher so people think a bit more before they rush in like a headless chicken.
Nah then people just avoid fights even more. There already is a cost with death, and that’s the run back to the action.

And next thing you know every one went ranger/ele and kite each other all day long
I currently find I break even in WvWvW as far as cash goes.
I do find it annoying, in a game thats supposed to be so open to options, its practically impossible to make anywhere near as much cash in WvWvW as it is grinding through repetative heart objectives.
If I ever spent money upgrading places or buying siege equiptment with coin, It would be a dead-loss every time.
Rather than removing the incentive not to die, I’d propose upping the amount of cash gained from killing a player (or events). Or making it a dead-set drop rate.
i’d say double repair cost
How to remove repair cost:
Stop dying.
How to remove repair cost:
Stop dying.
To stop dying means to stop fighting.
And then no one engages.
So hows WvW gonna work like that?
That wont happen, WvW is Anets biggest money sink and with it…they get people buying gems.
What are you guys talking about? As a melee you net 3-4 gold pr evening in WvW, and thats when you stock up alot of siege aswel. On a good full day during the weekend, you can easy make more than 10 gold after repairs.

The repair cost is the one barrier to stop people from just mindlessly zerging things to death.
If it wasn’t there you could just throw bodies at doors nonstop until you took it with no costs.
Since you don’t have to walk very far from respawn there needs to be some kind of death penalty, the armor damage suffices perfectly.
I usually make 20x the gold that I spend on repair costs in WvW and that is a conservative estimate.

I usually spent 10x the gold on repairs that I can make in a full day of WvW. This means that whenever I see overwhelming numbers I’ve taken to running or zoning to the wp. Personally I hate having to do that as I’d much prefer to fight and take my chances but I just can’t afford it.
If you play in a zerg against outnumbered opponents I can see why you wouldn’t need to worry about armor repairs as much, but I usually play solo or in a small group at off hours and usually with few to no allied keeps and outnumbered 10 to 1. In these odds you do die a lot as the outmanned buff doesn’t help with defense and you can’t take anything appart from occational dolyaks and supply camps.
At times even getting to and taking a supply camp takes a lot of deaths. When the opponent zerg has run out of other things to hit they seem to be rather happy to hit a 2-6 man group going for a supply camp.
Some ppl no doubt would rush in like head-less chicken if there was no armor repair to worry about, but honestly rushing in like a headless chicken is a LOT better than running at every fight that starts going the wrong way. The ones running in will likely die, but at least they create a fight.
Last fight I ran from it was 5v1. I ran and zoned to the wp on that occation. The 5 had absolutely nothing to do other than look for someone wanting to fight them and I guess it must have been disappointing to them that I didn’t stick around. I wanted to try to fight them and hopefully get a kill or 2, but I can’t afford the repairs, so instead ended up running.
The way i see, getting rid of armor repairs from getting killed by other players (if an npc hits you then by all means apply armor repairs for all I care. I just want to be able to fight other players) would promote more aggresive playstyles, get more people involved in WvW and help outnumbered servers a lot. So all in all I believe it will benefit WvW
You guys are making no sense.
Instead of saying “remove repair cost”, learn to survive. Repair cost is essential. Without it, people would play like mindless chickens. I never thought repair cost is so much or so low. Actually, that is the only really working thing in WvW in my opinion.
I always made profit after my WvW plays and never got out with less money.
I don’t mind a repair cost.
I mind there is an option to instant waypoint out of a dangerous situation, change to town clothes and logging out upon downed state to avoid it.
The repair cost is the only downside of dying besides travel time to get back in the action, it needs to be there.
That said though, reducing repair costs should be part of the Outmanned buff. (and maybe making it actually useful, but we don’t have to get into that here.)
While in downed state → switch to town clothes → Die → Don´t repair town clothes → PROFIT ? ??
Wow. There are so many dynamic events in WvW – from securing checkpoints, escorting Dolyaks, repairing walls and gates, capturing objectives, and killing other players. All these activities give money. How is a 2-3s repair a gold sink?
This is significantly cheaper than doing a dungeon and dying and waypointing, then dying then waypointing, then dying again.

I have to agree. I usually make at least a gold per night from WvW. If you are dying that much, you really need to look at what you are doing because you are doing something wrong. Mobility, mobility, mobility….

Most of my time in WvW is spent with a group of < 5 people.
You must be doing something terribly wrong. I don’t mean this to reflect negative on you, but I would evaluate what you are doing to die so much and correct it before you ask for armor repair changes. You are not supposed to die that often and the armor repair cost is there to make sure that mindlessly zerging does not go unpunished.
You clearly don’t understand how fighting zergs work. You don’t run in like a headless chicken like you said you wanted to, you use guerilla warfare tactics to stay one step ahead of them.

Yes this is a dumb comment but last night was my first time in WvW. I thought gear didn’t matter in pvp for this game. I was thinking about just getting starter gear for just pvp. So am I wrong? Confused, all the above?

This depends on the server. My mate and I were on JQ and we usually have very strong opponents, his guild moved to a dead server. They keep cycling between letting the enemy take all their spots and then taking them back and he nets an insane amount of karma/gold per day from it alone. On a fiercely competitive server with a ton of people, you barely break even without being lucky.
