The topic really speaks for itself: Every player has encountered getting an amazing item that they use on a character but then maybe they want to give it to another character or delete that character but not lose the item. Well guess what, they cant. I honestly don’t mind account bound items because I can move them between my characters however I choose to. Can we please just remove soulbound from the game? make it account bound because if I want to start a new character but had some nice gear on the one I deleted that took me a long time to get, I don’t want to put in all that money and dungeon grinding just to get the same stuff when I should just be allowed to move it to my new character. It’s mainly a convenience thing but its worth removing for the sanity of the players.

Not to mention the build diversity that this would open up. I’ve seen a lot of players advocating for a stat swap option on ascended gear in order to hedge against future balance patches as well as encouraging build diversity. As an 8 yr GW1 veteran, who’s been here since launch, I like the stat swapping option as I have NEVER had to work so hard or spend so much just to run/test a new build. In GW1, the only thing that might hinder me from running a new build might be a couple plat (roughly GW2 gold equal) for some simple upgrades and maybe ten minutes to go cap a new elite skill. I could make an entirely new build from scratch in 30 mins to an hour. This kept the meta from becoming stale as people were willing to try new things even if they were a failure instead of spending a ton on the ‘tried-and-true sure thing’ ie. zerker dps. I see doing away with soul bound as a sort of middle ground. Not nearly as good as stat swapping but still light years in the right direction for making alts more viable as well as running multiple builds. If a story item is soul bound or whatever I can understand but “soulbound on acquire/equip” is such an impractical mechanic and flies right in the face of the ‘ease of access’ foundation that GW1 set as a precedent for it’s baby brother. Until creativity is encouraged and no longer looked at with contempt by the system, we will only see a DPs/‘balance patch’ controlled stale meta which is very sad when I think about my list of 150+ GW1 ‘build templates’.

i approve this idea, specially with ascended items, pvp gear (yes pvp gear is soulbound if you dont deposit it into the colections),

just make almost everything accound bound on equipt or in some cases aquire

only soulbound cases i could see still being viable are the starting gear you get in character creation (example being the flame eye for ele)

many players end up transmuting those starting unique items anyway, so let’s be done with soulbound altogether. accountbound… ok, sure. let’s keep that
