Not always. I use the Hall of monuments skin in WvW partly because I like it but also because the enemy can not tell if my armor is exotic or blue. I know plenty of folks that have Xmuted lower tier skins just for looks on exotic gear. The skin of the armor is far less of a reliable indicator than the upleveld arrow.

With the amount of CoF/Cultural Armor in WvW, it’s pretty easy. I’ve yet to see someone with plain armor full exotics.
It’s not even seeing the arrow, just remove the level indicator, it’s an easier fix. We know everyone is level 80 right? Why show it?

Even better idea, give everyone upleveled tags and don’t put that info in the patch notes.

With transmutation stones, that’s hardly a sure thing. Every single one of my characters has transmuted exotics. Even back in Guild Wars I ran mostly the level 20 versions of noob armor.

This is really a good idea. I don’t see any reason an enemy invader should be able to see that I am upleveled.
They already can see my health…that is enough.

Good idea. Really though they need to go back to the drawing board with upleveling and make it so the disparity isn’t so stark.

I think its not even a bad idea to remove the level 80 indicator and uparrow, and then replace it with WXP rank that both allies/foes are able to see. I am not sure that the enemy needs to know who is upleveled and who is not so clearly. I will purposely use low level armor skins on my characters, but they obviously know I am at least level 80 on those characters. Plus, I just like the looks of some of the armor better than most.
For enemy servers, its not like they cant guess the approximate rank by just looking at the title anyway, but it would make the data actually relevant to the game at hand and also allow allies to see each others rank. Like you say, we are all “technically” level 80, why not use the screen space for something that is more informative?

If they didn’t want to allow people to use upleveled characters, then they wouldn’t. There’s no need to give an extra disadvantage to upleveled characters, remove that tag.

Nah, I love these green arrows. Love the feeling of seeing one roaming, chasing it down and destroying without anything this player could do :P
I love people who think WvW is a good place to level a character, I love showing them how wrong they are :P
Or make it only visible for allies. There’s a lot of people, my self included, who just rush upleveled targets because they drop like flies. I think it’s not fair for a guy who wants to level his 60’, and is being rushed even in teamfights by 80’s in full exotics/superior runes.
More like an upleveled tag is a free badge tag in 90% of most situations.
If it was bad to bring underleveled toons to WvW Anet wouldnt have put the auto80 feat. I also think not knowing the guy you crushed was a lowby would be better.

You can almost see the drool dripping to get a easy kill before they get jumped by the rest of us. Its insane how far from their tower/camp/zerg people will chase a green arrow. But they never chase a normal 80 much…

I like to see upscaled people. Makes me know which people to attack or not. I do not engage upscaled people when solo roaming, theres no point of doing that :P I just feel sad for upscaled people if a lv 80 jumps them when theyre going on an adventure somewhere

For me that applies. I wouldn’t recognize level 1 armor from level 80 legendary armor.

So is being caught in certain situations as certain classes. Deal with it. Know your limitations and don’t get caught out of your depth.
There is a reason why we have some information on our enemies (not enough, imo). In a fight you gotta know who to prioritize.
Also the point of upscalling isn’t for you to pretend you’re a real lvl 80, but to prevent you being laughably instagibbed in any fight against actual 80s – like in most traditional MMOs.
