Gold spammers are becaming more and more popular. Every time im in LA im reporting 3-5 of them at once. It would be great if you could add “Report for selling gold” button to chat options (after right click). Such reports should have separate label and should be checked at highest priority. Somehow i dont remember gold sellers on chat in gw1 i dont want to remember them from gw2 neither.

The report for spamming option is just as effective. I really do not understand the need for a seperate option.

Use the scamming option not the spamming option, if you report spamming it could be anything from WTB WTT WTS spamming to gold selling if you use scamming it’s closer to the gold selling issue than spamming, I use scamming and a few hours after that he is no more, sometimes even less than a few hours.

ArenaNet have suggested using spamming in past posts. Although to be honest as long as you report it for anything I am sure support can see what the issue is.

Ok if they truly said spamming than spamming it is, though it seems odd I would think scamming is closer to it than spamming.

I don’t care if it says Gold Selling, but I would like Report to automatically put the person on an x hour block (base it on how long it takes the reports to actually get looked at atm).

I know some people claim it doesn’t matter because they swap accounts often, but the reality is ANet is a smaller company, so the gold sellers are not actually needing to swap very often since they don’t get shut down as fast.

I’ve seen the gold sellers from yesterday still actively spamming the next day so an auto temporary block would be nice. It would cut down on the amount of time we have to waste on getting them out of our hair, and also stop us from putting stolen accounts on block, which i’m sure is going to be a social problem for some of those people when they do get their accounts back.

One hour block could easily be abused to target innocent players. Don’t want to see the spam while they deal with the issue just block them too.

Stupid phone… carrying on. I can understand the social concern but perhaps I have little sympathy for people who did not protect their accounts in any basic way so are allowing these people to spam in our game for free.

No.. I meant put them on Our Block list temporarily, not block them from the game automatically. Aka let us ignore them temporarily, so that people who have their accounts stolen don’t end up on countless peoples ignore lists. Imagine how hard that would be to get a dungeon group when everyone has you on ignore and doesn’t remember why.

Oh! Then yes brilliant idea. Sorry wrong end of the stick. That would indeed be helpful.

If an account picks up “x” amount of reports, then that account should be muted, unable to communicate with others via chat or mailbox while pending investigation.

If they are worried about embarrassment, then I think it would be a much bigger one if the game got overrun with goldsellers like wow did, than if the added that as an option in the report function.

I have lost count of the number of gold sellers I have reported in the last few days alone, and they are still going at it.
I still see the same characters still spamming chat with their messages days after they have been reported.
It honestly feels to me like nothing is being done.

So you can report the person and add them to your Block list in one action.

Furthermore, on the back end if 100 people report someone for RMT they should be banned until ANet can look into it.

Obviously, if someone contacts Support about a ban it gets looking into right then.

This! Such account should be marked and autmatically muted after getting enough reports.

I agree, this is an excellent idea. Even without a separate gold selling button, it would still work to mute a person with , say, 50 or more scamming/spamming reports on them. The gold sellers work very hard to bypass any filters (whether they are present in gw2 or not). This would effectively mute them (and prevent them from sending in game mail) until the issue could be checked out.

The gold spammers are out of control and something needs to be done about it. It is surprising that they are getting away with it in this volume via chat and email. Really arenanet, do something. This is looking more and more like one of those “other” mmo’s where they couldn’t care less how many gold sellers clutter up the chat window. I associate those mmo’s with sub-par games and I never play them for very long. If customer service doesn’t care about that, they will care less about anything else you may need from them.

I would like to see map chat muted for people that are getting very high amounts of reports for spamming for 3 days. If a player thinks they were falsely muted, they can appeal the mute, and support can take action against accounts that are obviously falsely reported, giving them 3 day bans. The autoblocks only work if people report from the chat window by right clicking the persons name with the message that is spam/goldselling etc.

Same thing for mail. If everykittenmail you send is getting reported, why should you be permitted to send mail? Block the feature from that account, pending review from support.

Then whispers if someone is getting reported constantly after whispers, block their ability to use whispers to people that do not have them on their contact list.

Party doesnt have to be moderated, and say for the most part should bo ok, though if they start using that then maybe locking them out of /say as well as /map would be good.

Guilds and parties can moderate themselves.

And gold selling will be self moderated by the community out of existance.

Oh, I do like the idea of full auto muting after x number of reports. It doesn’t even have to auto ban them, an auto mute that takes their chat/mail abilities away until someone can look at the reports would be great.

After all, even if someone somehow manages to tick enough people off to make false reports on them that jeopardize their own accounts by doing so (I have no doubt there are counter bans if you go reporting people for nothing), being unable to chat for a day or two isn’t going to massively cramp someones gaming. They likely would have been starting a flame war if they got reported that many times anyway. :P

I forget what game it was I played but they had the most brilliant system, all gold spammers chat went into a spam tab automatically. Not sure how they managed to filter it but wish ArenaNet did this, along with the reporting them and of course banning the idiots that buy from them!
