You said old GW names will be available to new players after the launch day, yet it’s not the case. When are those names being released so that we could use them? I still am getting errors when I try to create a new character, saying the name is GW reserved one.

You’re too late. You had to log onto gw1 sometime in 2012 before july 31st and make the character with that name on headstart or launch day. They made a blog post about this: http://www.arena.net/blog/reserve-your-guild-wars-character-name-for-guild-wars-2-by-july-31

I think he wants to create a character with a name that is reserved for someone else or possibly a second unlinked account. I don’t think he’s trying to reserve one, just use one that is still reserved. The reservations should be dropped by now.

There are countless threads about this already. Reserved names are still reserved, but they will be unlocked “soon.”

Based on how the original blog post worded it, I assume that as soon as launch issues with people not having their accounts due to being hacked or whatever the names will be released for everyone to take.
