Guild Wars 2

So I constantly checked the hall of monuments before head start, and launch, to see if the name I wanted had been taken, and the day right before they made it to where you couldn’t reserve names, someone took the one I wanted, and reserved it. So ever since then, I had been patiently waiting to see if they would actually use it at launch, or head start even. I’ve checked countless times, and it’s yet to be taken. When I read the post about reserved names, what I got out of it was that if you didn’t take the name during the head start or launch period, it would go up for grabs to the lot of us. Was I mistaken? I’ve been waiting for quite some time, this name has some sentimental value to me, and would appreciate any word on this.

My suggestion I guess would be to open them up now, since I know I’m not the only one who has a perfect name for a character that has been taken from them by someone who is not even using it! </3

I have a similar situation—waiting for names to come off reserve—but from a different angle. I’m keeping them from myself!

I had 2 GW1 accounts and could only bind one to GW2. The second account has some names I want to use, but they are still “reserved.” I had asked support about it, they said I should just delete those GW1 characters so I could use the names. :O

I’m not ready to do that just yet, but if we will wait months instead of days, I guess I may just do it. :/

See, I can understand something like that, because you actually want to use the names, just couldn’t link two accounts to your current Guild Wars 2 one haha. But the guy/or girl who took the name I wanted only took the name, and has nothing in his hall of monument achievements, so I figure he just took it to take it. x.x

I wish they would reply to tickets about this, or even make an announcement as to when they’re taking them off reservation.

I agree, it would help if we had a timeline. I’d hate to delete some of my beloved old toons off GW1 only to find out they’re coming off reserve in 2 days.

I doubt deleting GW1 characters would even solve that problem, Meret. From how they explained the reservation system, it sounds like it is a list compiled by people who signed on during a set period (January to July iirc), and the list was made there. So, I don’t believe that deleting your character would effect that list. The name would still be marked as “reserved” is my best guess.

I’m in the same boat—I’m waiting on a name from my second GW1 account, plus a name that someone else has reserved but isn’t using. Extremely frustrating as I refuse to create my character with a lesser name just to play—because at some point, that name will be opened up and I’ll be kicking myself for not waiting. Oh, and the name I’m waiting for will be my main character at that. So I don’t even feel like playing the game right now, as it’s basically just wasting time on an alt.
