Reseting Traits without the NPC
I think you should use the search before you post.
Maybe if the Trait guy sold an item that allows us to change our traits in the world, sure.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
No.
Create a build that is flexable, not a build for a single fight.
Having to change skills and such on a fight by fight basis will-kill-the-game.
If they give us the ability to change traits on the fly, they have to create fights that force you to do so. Thus adding a level of craptastic tot he game that they got away from by not continuing it from GW1 in the first place.
No to an item……
Maybe if the Trait guy sold an item that allows us to change our traits in the world, sure.
Yes to this.
It retains the gold-sink feature (which is important), gives players convenience and keeps the NPC useful.
Possibly make it ineffective while in dungeons for balance.

They had a system in gw1 that worked fine. You could store as many “Templates” as you wanted.

With this in GW2 you could set it to store not only the Traits but your Utility Skills and Elite, what Weapons and Armor also allowing you to Name your Build, so you can easily get the right build for whatever you are getting ready to do. This would stream your changeovers to mere seconds.
I’d rather have a one time larger gold fee to apply a template storage feature to my toon, than to carry around another item in my bags. If you have the ability to store just two Builds you will need extra space for different weapons and armor. Why would you want to clutter your bags, when this could be implemented though the UI?
If you think that a gold sink is necessary, then why not have it set up so that you can save 2 or 3 builds for the one time fee of X-amount gold from the initial purchase and a set X-amount for each additional build slots that you can buy(btw I don’t like this idea…I’d rather its was unlimited)
Let me clear up something….about my method and how to keep the gold sink active. You pay a one time fee to unlock slots to store your templates. I am thinking maybe 2 or 3 slots and you can purchase more slots for a one time fee….the way a gold sink works with this, is that the slots are not unchangeable unless you go back to the trainer and pay his fee to clear it off. So it will allow you to buy as many build template slots as you as an individual think you need. Change from one to another builds in seconds and if later on down the road you decide that the build is not right for you , you can use the trainer as you do now to clear the traits, weapons, skills, and armor so you can rewrite a new build.
