I know this is a pretty delicate theme, but it disturbs me for some long time now…

Most of the current conditions are actually accessible to all classes and imo this should be changed. I’ll put it short and just give a small summary on how conditions should be spread amongst the classes.

Bleeding: Necro, Ranger, Thief
Burning: Ele, Engi, Guardian
Confusion: Mesmer, Engi
Chill: Necro, Ele
Cripple: Thief, Warrior, Ranger
Weakness: Necro, Mesmer
Poison: Necro, Thief, Ranger
Blind: Guardian, Engi , Ele
Vulnerability: Warrior, Mesmer
Fear: Necro only
Torment: Necro, Mesmer
Root: Ranger, Warrior,Engi

Don’t badmouth me now for such a thought and i know this isnt a balanced suggestion at all, just a vague overview how it actually could look like.

but if you do so, some class conditions build would become even more useless or too good to be true.
as an example you provided since i play a mesmer the result would be:
if i spec in condition damage, i’m wasting stats in pve because of how confusion works (or better won’t work), although i could go full direct damage and have conditions that weakens and cripple you with me not wasting any point in condition damage but investing all of them in crit chance and power prcision.

that said i really believe condition need some rework because every day i’m thinking about giving up all my condition damage (and i already gave up a lot of it for a nice chance to crit) and just do what everyone is doing go full berserker!

generally i just want to have something done about conditions at all. i would also be content if they would introduce some kind of resistance to conditions. for example tenacity – the counterpart to toughness. you can increase the duration of conditions, but at the moment there no possibility to reduce them. and not every class is blessed with condition removers like traited shouts from guardian or something else

So Warriors get no conditions that deal damage? On the opposite, you’re giving Necros Bleed, Poison, Fear and Torment. That’s not very nice.

Basically you’re telling me that if I like condition builds and Warriors, I’m out of luck? Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to go over so well with people.

you can increase the duration of conditions, but at the moment there no possibility to reduce them.

We have food that goes all the way up to -40% condition duration. And there’s several traits that affect the duration of select conditions.

You know what game does conditions right. Dark Souls. You don’t land a condition until you fill up the meter first. And filling the meter fully is hard if the target has a high resistance to that condition.

As for these restrictions, I’m not sure I like it. I don’t even like conditions doing damage. Conditions are capable of doing so much more than just compete for damage. If conditions were changed to add interesting debuffs instead of some simply being another form of damage, then maybe restricting profession’s use of conditions would work well.
