HI, as a lot of dungeon lovers and the Anet staff know, there is been an “issue” in running dungeons with pugs, the owner leaves/dc/whatever and badum all group is kicked out, losing all progress…

I think this happens because the instance owner is the player and not the server itself, i think it should be really hard to implement something that sweep the instance owner to a new player when the previous owner leaves. ( I’m not 100% is that way)

The actual system(player host the instance) has some awesome good pros:
-Infinite party’s can do the same dungeons at the same time.
-There’s no time limit.
-Allow you to party with players of all worlds of your region (EU/NA)
-Except the instance host, all the other player can go and back.
-The game server resources are not used to host the dungeon.

Only have one con, the one i said above(host leaves, all is lost)

The old system, the other games use (game server hots instance)
pros:
-As long the party stays a party, the instance is not lost. (it fix the problem of the other system)
but sure have a lot of cons:
-The game server resources are being used.
-Has a limited number of instances that can be running at the same time, if this number is reached, your party gonna have to wait until some party finish is dungeon.
-Because of 2 the previous cons, they can’t just allow you too stay in the instance forever.
-You can only party with people from your world.

My suggestion:
-Create a EU and NA server only for dungeon purpose. (lets call it the “dungeons server”)
-All players from EU worlds can get to the EU dungeon server.(same for NA)
-How players access this server? A menu in the game like the WvWvW or the Spvp cross swords one, or remove the dungeon portals from the pve maps, and put a portal that get you to this “EU dungeon server”, this portal should be in LA, and Divinity Reach, the groove, etc..well you get it
-So when you cross that portal you get to that “EU dungeon server”, you got to a place like a “hall of dungeons”, like the spvp hall, and there you have several portal to each dungeon, this hall should have the dungeon items vendor like the ones in LA, and other typical npcs.
-As this is a server for only dungeon purpose, it should be able to host enough instances for the EU party’s never have to wait, and to prevent that and abuse, a time limit should be set, but scaled to the dungeons difficulty.

well i dont get any of IT, so its just a silly idea and we lost that feature of infinite time to do a dungeon
