Congratulations, you ran after him like the little zerglings that you were, and you did exactly what he wanted. That’s 10 people (clearly an incompetent 10 people) that could be doing something useful elsewhere, but instead you play wild goose chase.

Its even worse in tpvp I am pretty sure there is no 4s reveal there.

Because 3-4 seconds of stealth that doesn’t actually stop any damage that they can land that also has a 50% uptime at best if they still want to actually be slightly offensive (thats 1 hit every 4 seconds otherwise there not actually doing anything but running around burning cooldowns) is overpowered because 10 people didn’t work out to either ignore the thief that was unable to actually hurt them (as stated specifically by the OP) or bring some CC and/or burst of their own…

I’ve seen small zergs like that spending forever chasing d/d eles across the map, trying to kill a bunker guardian that just refuses to die or chasing ranger pets instead of the ranger, clearly these are also all OP and should be removed.

And yeah there is 4s reveal in tPvP

Yes, stealth. Really fun, isn’t it? Only if you’re a thief. I’m seeing too many stealth-thiefs in WvW. They just use a combo of stealth skills and traits that enhance stealth.

And guess what, they’re uncatchable! We had like 10 players after 1 thief. The thief was useless, couldn’t down or kill anyone. No not even close. But annoying as hell, continuously. (For a dozen of minutes and then he logged off.)

My question is: What’s the whole purpose of stealth? And does using stealth like this serve that purpose? Be useful, learn to fight and let us fight. If you want to troll, go do a different game that’s not built around sociality.

Purpose?
Here’s plenty:
-All of thief’s survival is tied to stealth, evade and blind. Blind is inverse aegis, making it only effective against small groups, and evades are limited. (And armour and HP don’t cut it)
-Stealth Skills, on stealth sets, the stealth skill is their defining skill. A good example of this is P/D. The set would be horrible if not for it’s access to Sneak Attack.
-Condition Removal, thief’s best condition removal is in a stealth trait. Theives have low vitality making the susceptible to condition. And unlike Guardian and Ele, they don’t cleanse every few seconds without stealth, and don’t have the other two classes healing without it.

To sum it all up, a Thief without stealth is for all intensive purposes is the severely dumbed down Warrior, to the point of being completely incapable of participating in some content.

Thief’s job is to tempt fate and get behind your lines, kill your weak or injured, harrass your assaulters, and get out. Just like the class’ predecessor Assassin. If they screw up they’re dead, if they succeed, they make you look like fools. Like it or not, the class and its is a huge draw to some players, and it’s not going anywhere.

OP clearly stated that the Thief couldn’t down anyone, so there was no need to even try to chase him other than for their own amusement/ego. And guess what – that’s a legit tactic, if those people are careless enough to chase after the Thief.

Stealth is not that long lasting, AoE continues to damage Thief even in stealth – and mind you, the longest stealth skill requires the Thief to remain in a small area where he cast it.
This is on top of Thieves being incredibly squishy, and fairly easy to kill.

Stealth isn’t broken, your understanding of how to counter the thief (not that hard) is what needs some attention. There’s plenty of stuns, AoE attacks, dazes, knockdowns, etc. that all present a huge hindrance to any Thief trying to hide – and in a group of 10 people someone should have at least one of those.

I’m not saying it didn’t annoy them – but that’s not a broken mechanic. Either ignore what’s clearly not a threat, learn how to counter it, or accept that if you don’t do either you’re wasting your time.

Sounds to me like the thief traded his viability for survivability. if he couldn’t kill anything he is useless to his team (because all his skills are geared towards being stealthed) unless your whole team chooses to chase him. In which case, ignoring him would have made him worthless again and his team would have had a handicap of -1 person. Instead you chose to give your own team a handicap of -10 people.
