As it is now there are two types of thieves: noob stompers and runners.

In WvW all thieves I see either gank lowbies/noskills or run away for their life if faced vs someone skilled. It is so annoying chasing them around and being unable to do a thing due to perma stealth, their escape mechanics are just too op. Please rework thieves nerfing stealth and adding them some dmg or give us more tools to counter stealth. Right now we only have trap and ranger’s pet I guess. I play ele and 30% of thieves I encounter in 1v1 in WvW runaway, they just won’t accept their fate, so annoying.

Distraction and baiting are valid WvW tactics. Not everything comes down to getting kills.

what running away like a little kitten has to do with distraction and baiting? thieves need stealth as optional skill with high cd and higher dps, now they deal low dps and stealth is just op, but what it gives with no dmg?

Also dots and dmg should remove stealth, like in WoW, great mechanics, not like in GW2.

You literally just said that most of the thieves you encounter die or run. What is the problem here. You kill thieves most of the time but you want the class to be nerfed? Am i missing something?

If you want more constructive feedback, go to the thief forums and ask. There are alot more thieves who want more people to learn so when you get better you can come back to our forums and tell everyone that we are a joke to fight.

Actually I’m asking to buff them up, not nerf them. Right now thieves are no challenge at all to kill.

I’m not even going to ask. You not once said that they should be buffed, you mentioned them running away and how its annoying that they can do that.
Thieves are supposed to have high surviability and mobility, they are one of the squishiest classes in the game. A lot of thieves prefer not to die and run away if they know they cant win a battle, do you blame them?

Op, please use the player’s helping player’s subforum or the thief subforum and ask for advice. Stop requesting more nerfs on an overratted profession. Please..

FYI: perma stealth means no harm. Also invisible =/= invincible. 2 things you need to keep in mind when talking smack against a B rated class.

Okay, I see people get overexcited and miss the point. I want something to counter stealth, it’s not okay you engage in a fight and you cannot win it because when low on hp thief will use perma stealthing and run away technics to run away and you won’t even see him. Doesn’t matter if you dot them, dmg them when in stealth, cc them or whatever, it’s just too op runaway mechanic. I myself have a thief and I know how it works, since I laughed everytime when I ran away and people couldn’t catch up with me. Switched to ele though, much more fun.

Stealth needs nerfing, at least make dots or dmg cancel it or put 30s revealed on thief when he runs away and is still in combat, for example being 1500 yards away from last target, you can even remove revealed while attacking from stealth to compensate, it’s a joke anyways.

30 second Revealed? Are you nuts? Run and P/D spec, or S/D control spec, then say that. Why not have the damage of backstab? Then the stealth burst specs would have to play like all the other stealth specs, certainly better then rendering two sets useless.

I don’t get your problem. If you are good what do you care if you cannot runaway from encounter? If you kill your opponent with no problems it doesn’t even affect you, why the crying?

I don’t even have thief but they can’t kill you and you can’t kill them. I don’t see a problem unless you allow them to distract and bait you. In which case they are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. That build is only valid as long as you keep falling for it. When you finally learn, it will only be a liability for their team.

Are you in air when you fight them? I found they treat air ele like a living plague. At least the smart ones did. Back when I played WvW, I met some awesome thief players on opposing team many times in battle… and they pretty much always jumped on me second I switched from air. There’s your bait?

I play d/d, d/s and staff, but when solo roaming I usually run around with d/d so it’s pretty heavy CC and a lot of dmg, sometimes I switch to scepter MH, depends on enemy. Newbies/lowbies get stunlocked to death. Thieves don’t pose a threat since you cannot be bursted down, so they usually run away. I don’t even engage versus thieves anymore since it is a waste of time so very often I run around EB like I don’t care with one poor thief on my back who is unable to get me below 70% hp, pretty funny, they are quite stubborn.

im telling this 8 moths already and im amazed how anet is ignoring this problem. srsly thief jumps into like 30 enemies he puts /lol in chat then disappear. no other character can do this. no other character has the power to run from 30 ppl. thieves do. and they can laugh while they are in the middle of that crowd. but its not only that they have ability to run from 100% danger situations, the biggest problem is that thief is actually doing tons of dmg jumping from stealth and back in it. and when you actually somehow manage to bring their hp low they stealth run away heal up and get back to fight of course. this is most annoying class to fight against, where you actually cant win no matter how hard you try and mo matter how skilled you are. plus they also immobilize and spam blind at you so that you by any chance couldnt hit them at least once or run away from them. this class is just LOL. i will ignore all `l2p`or `qq` comments because i know that those comments are gonna be from ppl playing thieves KNOWING that thieves are op but they are just AFFRAID anet will nerf them so they defend their op class as hard as they can.

They can rtl into a group, throw some Aoe’s down, stack conditions boons, and mist form to safety. Thief doesn’t have a SINGLE skill that makes them invulnerable and ele has atleast 3 (including the downed mist form) Yeah, I’d say thief isn’t winning that fight. If you had literally 30 people and they couldn’t find 1 thief you must be on a T7 server and have no knowledge whatsoever on the other 7 professions. There is simply no other explination for that.

Perma stealth does not exist.
A thief stealths, runs away, you can’t kill them. But you know what? They can’t kill you either. Neither of you win, or lose out.

Stealthing, running away and quickly jumping in and out of combat is the whole point of a thief. They are waaay to squishy to stay and fight most of the time in WvW. Take away their mobility, they can no longer survive. So what if you and 5 other team mates can’t kill a thief? Thieves cannot kill you if they are outnumbered.

They can’t kill you either. Neither of you win, or lose out.

And that is the kittening problem, why should you even start fighting with thief if neither of you can win it? Why does this profession exists in the game then? Now you see why does this need reworking? Stealth should be breakable by damage and dots at cost of improving thieves’ survivability so they don’t depend so heavily on being stealthed.

Thieves cannot kill you if they are outnumbered.

And that is not true, it’s easily doable and I run full zerker gear.

When a thief enters stealth conditions still effect them and they can still be hit from attacks. Oh and there is actually a way to take thieves out from a stealth under certain circumstances. Yet, there’s no point in explaining to people who don’t understand the thief.

I can fight thieves 1v1 and have no issues, because i know the class and I can anticipate certain things. Also, because I understand the thief I have had time where I down them from full health while they are completely in stealth.

If you want to nerf stealth, why don’t we also nerf things that completely make up a class, like a guardian’s barriers or a mesmer’s clones and phantoms, or maybe the necro’s minion and conditions?

What i’m trying to say is that stealth is what makes the thief a thief, nerf that and we are sitting ducks.

If we are going down this road then we should blow up ALL bunkers as well. Nothing more annoying than locking horns with an Alt Heal Guardian running full tank and have absolutely zero ability to kill them 1v1. Who wants to trade blows for 10 minutes only to have the fight settled by the first person who has a friendly or 100 show up?

How effective each class is at hitting a stealthed object varies massively across the board. Melee AoEs? Sure. Any normal rifle/bow/pistol shot? Not so much… This game was not designed for you to ever actually use manual aiming.
