Looked but didn’t find anything on this, so started a thread on it myself, so pardon me if it’s already been done and I just missed it.

But it occurred to me that we have “Rich” nodes of all ores, (which require less resources to make an ingot, [2 ores per 1 ingot]) but not for trees, that require more resources per up-step, (3-4 logs per 1 plank.)

And now, with the “Ascended” crafting making its way into the game, A WHOLE LOT of wood is required for a good bit of it.

Would it be relatively plausible to consider a " RICH " tree node?

I’m not asking for entire orange groves sized nodes here mind you… but simply a tree node that would definitely give you 2-3 re-uses. Something that you are kinda guaranteed to get between 9-12 logs from.

Make them just as sparse as Rich Ore nodes… maybe call them “AGED [tree type] Saplings”… make them the same appearance as a normal sapling, only slightly larger.

I considered small groves of regular saplings.. like 3-4 of them bunched up in a tight space. But dismissed that idea as that is extra load on the game. So, I’d stick with the “Aged” idea more.

Just a thought to kick around.

BTW: I am aware that sometimes a tree node WILL give you an extra re-use, giving you a few extra logs on occasion, or sometimes just one use and give you an extra log or two. But considering the amount of wood required, that kind of small potatoes compared to ores, don’t you think?

There is a stand of Cypress saplings in Malchor’s leap to the west of Pagga’s waypoint, around a stature (Lyssa?). You’re guaranteed 5 trees (=20 elder wood) and there’s often 2-3 more and an Orrian sapling nearby.

Not aware of any similar clusters for soft, seasoned or hard wood though.

There’s a reason for this. You find wood wherever you go, but for ore you have to skim the edge of the map. Therefor, wood tends to be far more plentiful on average.

This tends to happen in almost every MMO. To balance this out, rich nodes can be hunted.

This is balanced out due to the fact that there are way more saplings than ore veins, just look at Malchors Leap for example.

At least there are nodes for lumber, leather and cloth can’t be found anywhere save salvaging.

leather and cloth can drop from sacks.
OP, beside many reasons named here, another one might be that ore has an higher demand. Wood is only used in certain recipes for weapons. Ore is used for weapons, armor and jewels.

Sacks aren’t nodes. Sacks are drops, meaning they’re beholden to rng. And even if you get a sack, the contents themselves are also determined by rng. If I want some orichalcum ore, I know exactly where to go to get some. If I want some gossamer, I’m at the mercy of rng. There’s no equivocation.

I just did a run of Brisban Wildlands for soft wood and still ended with 2 times more iron ore (not counter silver ore) than soft wood. And I need 2 times more soft wood to refine it. It’s plain stupid. We really need more RICH tree because that is exactly why its price is sky rocketing! The demand is high but the quantity overall is pretty low. It’s hard to get a decent amount even when running a full 15-25 level map.

And I’m not counting the leather/scraps for armors. It’s even more ridiculous to get those.

Gossamer (all cloth, really) is likely to get really expensive when ascended armor is introduced.

I have to agree with Goddess… I’ve made a few passes through Brisban Wildlands and Snowden Drifts … the result was pretty close to what she described. Nearly twice the amount of various ores than wood.

Like I mentioned… I’m not asking for entire groves of trees, just a couple nodes that would definitely yield a descent amount of logs due to the significant increase of the amount of various wood types required by the new ascended crafting.
