Since i really like how this profession was made in GW1, i would like to see it come back on future updates or expansion packs

This would be a draft (a brainstorming thread) on how to implement it on GW2.

Light Armor
Can’t have a second weapon set

Weapons:
- Staff (2handed)
- Dagger (main hand & off hand)
- Scepter (main hand)
- Focus (off hand)

Water weapons:
- Trident

Features:

Weapon enchants:
Just like the GW2 elementalist does, the ritualist is able summon a weapon soul node. This node, when activated, it enchants the weapon you are curently holding…changing temporally your skill bar. Note that skill bar could be slightly diferent for each type of weapon

Spirit summoning:
Just like the engineer, the ritualist should be able to summon spirits for multiple purposes. (Support, conditions, damage…). An elite skill should be able to place several of them.

Ashes:
There would be some ashes skill related which should grant you a new skill bar. Once you are done, you may drop the ashes in order to cause another effect (just like GW1)

As well, it would be great to see a skill which would allow the ritualist to chain the spirit of a defeated foe and use it for a limited time.

Skills
The ritualist should be easy to be used as a support character (by using weapons enchants and defensive boons), a nice AoE char (I am thinking on that skill used by thoses Ascalon Elementalist), and a decent DPS through direct damage (lighning and soul eater spells)

Downed skills:
There should be “Death pact” skill which would allow fight some time as a spirit. You leave your body and you are allowed to use a specific skill bar for a limited time (just like the warrior). During this time you may fight against your enemy, or even try to resurrect your body (pressing F)

So…i’m not really finished whit this draft but, what do you think on this guys?

Thanks for opening this thread, mine got locked in the general discussion.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed aswell for the Ritualist, it’s so very different then other professions! I really miss the rit from GW1 and i’m kinda pissed that they gave spirit weapons to Guardians.

The fact that you also put the Ritualist down here as a prof without weapon swap pleases me, because I had the same idea! Btw the weapons are the same as those of the Elementalist, not bad but i’d like to see some variety for scholars. Mace + Torch perhaps instead of D/D?

Also the F1-F4 buttons should be something really cool that has to do with communing with spirits.

Mace + Torch or Scepter + Torch sounds good.
IMO Potential conditions inflicted by this class should be burning, blinding and daze (since every profession must have a way to do some CC)

F1-F4 may be used to do special use of their spirits as giving them orders, consume them to gain buffs, o dismiss them making some damage in the process, or move them like you could in GW1 with that Kurzick/Luxon PvE skill.

Do you realize the Engineer is a Ritualist with turrets instead of spirits?

Imo mace would not fit the ritualist at all. The weapons I think go well with ritualists are staff, scepter, focus, torch, daggers (both mh and oh) and for underwater trident and spear.
Anyway I dont really have much to add, I just really wanna see rits make a comback.

I don’t think of the engineer as a ritualist. The look, the skills, the feeling, it’s absolutley not the same even if spirits behave the same way as turrets…even if their roles may match sometimes, it’s not same.

Guardian strikes me as the monk, dervish, ritualist successor. I wouldn’t want to see the profession come back though, for the same reasons they chose 8 professions. The more you add, the harder it is to make them unique and balanced.

Sure it is harder to balance, but as time goes on, the game will need new features to stay fresh and alive. I believe this one was well introduced on GW and in fact, it was almost a signature of the Canthan culture.

I was ritu… i love it… but right now is better to fix all the problems, balance classes, make everything works, and than we can speack about new classes…

It should be good right now to add more skills, like in GW1, and not just 20 or 30…

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, is not my language. :P

I agree with this a 100%, people link the Engineer to the Ritualist because it has turrets that are stationary ’’minions’’ that do damage. Some spirits, not all of them where like that in GW1 other than that the Engineer and Ritualist have nothing in common. Ritualists do not use weapon kits, yes they did use bundles but they gave you a passive effect and an active active when you drop them.

Ritualist is 100% unique and no other profession has any remote link to any of the Ritualists abilities (No not even Guardians, Spirit weapons in GW1 where an unstrippable effect that would enhance your weapon or give a passive effect for a while. The Guardians ‘’spirit weapons’’ are summonable minions, like clones or Elementals.
