There have been several legendary weapons that have been getting buffed over time, and I wanted to throw my two cents in if you guys were planning on doing the same for Rodgort. I recently got it, and I love it to pieces. However, there are a few things that I noticed that might be better with some retooling.
I also want to say that I’d rather you guys work on pressing bugs, skill balancing, and progress-halting issues first. This is purely a cosmetic thing and takes no precedence over things that actually prevent players from enjoying the game.
I also realize that if you ARE planning on beefing up Rodgort, you probably have all the ideas you need. But I was kicking around ideas and decided to put them here anyway, just in case.
The big this that stands out for me is the very halting transition from sheathed to unsheathed. When the weapon is stowed it’s a very cool, shiny metal bust of a dragon, and when it’s out it’s a sweet fire-breathing, moving dragon’s head. However, the transition between the two is jarring. It just sort of instantly changes as if it were a different skin entirely. It would be super neat if it smoothly melted out of its metal form into the breathing dragon head, maybe even shaking and stretching a little, and hardened back into metal when you stowed it.
I think it would be neat if it also had some sort of flame present while it was stowed. Maybe an ever brewing fire spilling out of its mouth or something. I saw another comment on the forums that people often confused it for a warhorn or scepter over a torch. It would be nice to have a source of light even when it’s put away, too. You know, for the dark rooms.
There are many mentions around the interwebs of the footsteps and arm flame being the exact same effect as the incinerator. Maybe making them more of a lava font (like the sweet new molten picks) would give them a longer lasting impression than just a wisp of flame. Possibly a more noticeable flame aura as well, covering more of the body instead of just the arm. The Moot is a one handed weapon and the disco aura is all encompassing, it would be sweet to see the fire go that same route.
Anywho, I think that’s all I thought of. It’s kitten sweet, and I don’t regret working for it at all. Just thought I’d suggest a few things that might make it even sweeter, and more enticing for people looking to get it.
