Very, very basic idea: Make them account-bound.

1. We can’t transmute it since no white or non-soulbound blues exist for backslot items.

2. I want to re-create my character, but I don’t want to lose the book.

That’s it. I’m sure I’m not the only one that thinks that the books being soulbound is an inconvenience.

i’m with you on this, i’m saving mine in the bank, i really want to give it to another alt.
