I think we should be able to salvage ascended rings.
The basic ones (lvl 10-19 Fotm) could yield vial and globs of mist essence, while the higher level ones (the infused rings from 20+ dungeons) could salvage into globs and shards.
I am a “casual” fotm runner, and even I got a bunch of “spare” rings already. I don’t want to simply merch them for 5sp, but I also can’t rly use even on my various alts, because of the stats they offer.
It would be nice to get a little bit of a profit from these rings..

I think they should just salvage into pristine fractal relics unless they consolidate all the currencies.

Ascended gear is not salvageable because Ascended gear is meant for personal practice to taking one the mountain of a challenge that is forging a Legendary items. This has been stated numerously by ANet staff about why they released Ascended gear (to bridge the workload gap between exotics and legendaries)

They don’t want those items contributing to the economy like normal items or legendaries. They’re intended to be for personal use only.

If you find one you have no use for, they want you to view it like any other trash item and throw it away.

Salvaging them into various quality mist essences, which are also account bound, would not contribute to the economy.
