I ran into a guy that had the exact same guild tag as our guild [RATH] this morning. But of course when bringing up the guild member list, he was not listed in my guild. When asked, he said there can be multiple guild tags. Our guild and his were both spelled exactly the same way.
To give you all some background, the first guild I created had the same issue, but it was a spelling issue. [GOAT] and [Goat]
We were nice enough to disband our guild while losing all of the items we purchased with our rep once I found out we had the same tags, just had spelled it differently.
How the heck is this happening and why aren’t, when you are naming/creating tags for a guild, you are not restricted from using a name/tag someone else already has like Character names.
This is quite ridiculous. Why would someone want to join my guild when they can just join another one with the same tags.
On another note, how the heck can this type of stuff be cleaned up? I now have another guild running around with the same tag and who knows what kind of rep they have, good or bad.
Could there be an option added to refund rep points or an option to change your tag /name in game if a tag/name is found to be used by two or more guilds?
I contacted customer support on the Goat issue before it was stated to post something in forums to get people on board, and if enough wanted it, it could be done.
Has this happened to anyone else? If yes, what the heck happened by either Areanet or the other guild? I do not want to start over making another guild while losing members and rep, recreating what we already earned…again.
Please everyone support this and lets get this changed.
