Please, please, please may a way to save builds.

This has been suggested time and time again, but Guildwars is reluctant to add it. Make a way to save current weapons, armor, utilities, traits, etc. I don’t mind paying the current 3s to retrain your traits. If that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes. At the moment I’m using paint to save pictures of my builds and flipping back and forth to copy what I used.

If you’re confused where you would have store your equipment / weapons, fear not. Say you make a “Build” tab similar to your current bank system or spvp preview equipment if you will. See attachment. Your equipment will be stored in this tab and not in your bank. To remove the item from your “Builds” and back to your inventory it must be removed from all builds. But what if you use the same equipment for a different build? As soon as you use the exact same item twice it becomes, for example, “Shortbow of Accuracy Copy”. If you remove the copy, just the copy is removed from the current build. If the original is removed, it removes any copies from any of your builds. Swapping builds would also display the warning similar to "You are about to change builds. Doing so will cost “x” to retrain your traits." Then display a OK/Cancel box.

You could even turn this into something profitable for Guildwars. For example, you could, by default, grant everyone 3 “build slots” and for 1000 gems add an additional “build slot”. And by “build slot” I mean, similar to mentioned above, a bank row that consists of everything needed for a build.

Guildwars, this is an incredible opportunity for you to add another useful and probably profitable idea to the game. In summary, currently the game lacks a way to save builds. Which forces players either to write on paper, guess, or use other means to remember what they used. Similar to spvp spectator you should be able to allow others to preview your equipment by, say, shift clicking your build.

Thanks. Maybe I’m behind on times and Guildwars has already announced that they will add something different; hopefully, I’m not and others have the same idea. Feel free to leave feedback below.

Was also about to suggest this, even though I know it’s been suggested plenty of times. I do a lot of WvW, and a bit of dungeons during down time. I’ve relegated myself to playing my Guardian for Dungeons/PvE (since he has map completion) and my warrior in WvW. It just became to frustrating to leave a dungeon and then my party has this conversation:
“Yo, let’s go WvW now”
“Ok, lemme go switch my traits”
“lol k”
5 minutes later
“you ready?”
“yeah gotta put on my wvw gear, plus had to load into la and whatnot.”

So annoying and time consuming. I miss GW1 where I would be in a town/outpost, and I could change my attributes and skills with a simple click, scroll, click, load, done. -__-’

I am the same way. Add to that that I do a lot of dungeons and use different builds for them, WvW, and PvE. Some dungeons are build specific too. It is hard to remember what you have used as a build on some things when you don’t do them often. I have started saving my builds that I want to use on one of the nets build calculators so I can remember what worked in places I don’t frequent very often.

I agree. It’s impossible using one build for everything and the current way to change build is really uncomfortable.

Of course this. It took ages for ANet to implement this system into the game (3rd expansion) and that game needed it immeasurably more than this one does. I’m sure it will happen but we’re going to have to wait… and wait.

I think this actually stops players of trying new builds since they know what time it takes.
And I would also suggest this: If you purchase trait book, you can save it. You will have to buy another book for another build, but if you want to use that old again, you will just switch to that old book. This will be pretty awesome for players who use different traits for PVE and another for WvW, for example. So you can change your traits for your most used builds and dont have to again and again buy them for 2 gold!

Yes do it.

This game is so far from polished and simple little things like this can help.

Last I heard (in a SotG) they were planning on making something like this for HotM then maybe MAYBE it would get ported to PvE.

According to the latest “Looking Ahead”, we will be seeing new skills and traits as the year progresses. A “build save” function would help players manage the increasing build complexity. I further suggest adding a well-designed “notes” feature to the build save function. This would allow players to store notes on all aspects of the particular build, from preferred gear to play style. As with GW1, builds should be shareable between players.

Pretty sure an SotG a while back mentioned that they’re thinking of it.

However, it did also say that it would come to sPvP first, then later to PvE. Mostly due to the fact that there’s a lot of bumps to work out in PvE that simply don’t exist in PvP.

And honestly, there’s a lot of things to work out in something like this. Firstly, you have to implement a way for the template swapping to act as a gold sink, just like the current trait swapping. Secondly, you have to consider the requirements of the templated items. Do they need to be in your inventory? If so, then how do they interact with the different kinds of bags you can have? Do they need to be in your bank? If so, would that warrant a PvP Locker-like addition to Bank? Do the templates have their own space? How do you get the templates? Do you buy them from the Gem Store or do you get a free one? Maybe a quest? Can you have multiple templates? If so, can you unlock more? If so, how many and for what price (Gems/gold/quest)?

And after all of that is done, you come to the toughest of all: Pricing. Considering that it acts as a complete reset, it would be reasonable to price the base service at a price higher than the trait reset. But even that takes careful consideration, as for some people the costs are always the deciding factor. And then there’s the fact that if it saves you inventory or bank space, you have to consider the costs in relation to buying additional bags/bank space/inventory tabs.

I don’t agree that each swap should cost you money. I’m willing to even spend gems to be able to swap my build, but I think two slots should be given to everyone.

The only gold sink involved would be if you want to change traits on any build. If I feel like WvWing for ten minutes, and it costs me 6 silver x2 (soon after I may want to do a dungeon) then I will be really turned off.

so many interesting ideas, I do agree it get really annoying. I do mostly PvE , yeah I love GW2 world and its dungeons and enjoy doing world event and fighting dragons alongside hundreds of players , but way often guild members invite me to go WvW, it is a pain having to switch traits for that purpose alone, I dont even expend that much time in WvW, but still I would like some sort of mechanic to make it easier/faster.

just some ideas:
-maybe make it so that the trainer remembers, the last 2-3 builds I used before, and asks me to choose one.
-or maybe that every time I go into WvW my traits automatically switch back to what I had the last time I was in WvW.
-in the old GW1 the easiest thing was to change build, there was a panel with a library of build one could have, some shared from other players other made by one self, it included traits/stats and skills, it was so taken for granted and i miss it.
