Scaling level are awsome.
anyone not have this problem ? What the really ?
give me the higher level stuff that sells for more any day. Sell the high, buy the low and have money left over.
The majority of players want loot that matches their level.
Salvaging is not meant to be a primary method of getting your materials.
Trading post is.
But I do think that the ratio of loot has been skewed a bit too much.
I rarely remember getting loot of the zone’s level anymore.
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~
perhaps the loot table is messed up.
i think, it supposed to be:
higher chance to get loot based on the level of that area
lower chance to get loot based on the level of the character
I just went through Plains of Ascalon on an L36 toon and got mostly at-level items. Even on L80, though, all the salvage material will be scaled to the level of the zone.
Also, it’s a lot less annoying to buy items in bulk on the TP than it is to go out an farm them multiple times. At least for me, it’s far easier to earn coin and buy the things I want.
Accordingly, I don’t think there’s much of an issue.
The only issue here is that you actually can’t get leather and cloth materials of lower levels, except buying at the trading post. Wood, yes. Metal, yes. Plants, yes.
I’m not sure if the salvage items scale according to player level or area level. I think salvage items should remain strictly area level dependent.

I get cloth and leather salvage items that are at level. Where are you farming that you aren’t?
Like I said, I’m not sure whether their area level dependent or player level dependent. I just can’t remember because I keep switching between lower and higher level characters.
If it’s at area level, then it’s okay.
Something else crossed my mind. The trading post is a moving economy. So far, with plenty of new players coming in and lots of others still doing alts, they get plenty of lower level gear which they salvage and put the lower level materials in the TP. However, what will happen in the future, when the majority of the populace is higher level characters? Crafting requires more resources than you can gather with a single character by yourself. The price will shift and the lower level materials could become much more expensive because they’re harder to get, since they become scarce as you level up. While the higher level ones will be worth less since they’re easy to come by.
Actually if you farm long enough you start getting map appropriate gear, and then you start getting vendor trash. Diminishing returns and all.
its just annoying when im return to the area to get leather / cloth and i keep gettin 76-80 gear from level 1 area…. here another logic is how the hell did a freaking level 3 boar spit out an 80 exotic warhorn what kind of logic or how would any level 80 adventurer lose a battle of death to it. Its great to find stuff like that but it kills my farming for the said material. or rather let us skin the beast so that leather isnt like the hardest material to gather.
Increase drop rate of hides? That would still leave cloth as a problem.
My recommendation is to actively seek creatures that drop loot bags. Centaurs are amazing for loot bags. The reason being that the loot bags have an item range equal to what dropped it, so if you’re trying to get fine mats you will only get fine mats of that level from them.
