I would love to be able to allow my guildies to invite their friends to the guild, but I don’t want to take chances on new members (or even old members, tbh) getting angry and kicking everyone out of the guild. Although it’s never happened to me or to any guild I’ve been associated with, I’ve heard horror stories about this in the past.
I’d really like for kick to have it’s own special check box control that I can limit to just the leader. Not having this option forces me to limit who I allow to extend invitations.

Um don’t we already have this? isn’t that what the ‘Admin lower ranks’ checkbox is for in the ‘Ranks’ tab? I’m an officer in my guild so have got permission to kick/demote anyone below me but can’t do that to any ranks above me (i.e. Leader.). So it sounds like this feature already exists? Or am I misunderstanding something here?
I believe by default the lowest rank only has the ability to recruit new members. You can add as many new ranks as you like to give different people different permissions.

Yes, please! I recruit for a guild and I would never even think of kicking someone. That is neither a part of my job description nor my responsibility, but there are many who abuse the powers they have been given knowingly.

Spider, if you can admin lower levels you can both invite and kick any levels below you. I’d like to see that separated so that I can give my officers the ability to invite without giving them the power to kick.
An example from an instance that has actually occurred in my guild: One of my brand new recruits, who has only been in the guild for a few days, has been posting to our recruitment thread, talking to people who are looking for a guild and being an incredibly good recruiter. And they’ve been doing it in a way that perfectly fits our guild culture. They have shown exceptional initiative, and I’d like to take advantage of that initiative by giving them a few perks and the ability to invite directly. But! I don’t know them well enough at this point to trust them with the ability to kick my guildies. I’d like the opportunity to allow them invite privileges without giving them the power to kick guildmates.

Ok, I think I see what you are saying now perhaps separating these functions out would make it clearer.
In the meantime, for the example you gave, why not create a new rank in-between officer and lowest member and give them admin rights. Then they can recruit people but not kick anyone above them. That way you can have the officers as the long term trusted ones and the level below as the trusted newbees. For example in my guild we have 4 ranks: Leader, Officer, Rifleman and recruit. Riflemen is the one we added to be this exact in-between level they can recruit, kick recruits but not officer or leader.

I absolutely agree! I don’t want to promote a player to a higher rank (simply for fun, so that people can chose another rank which suits them) but then have some rogue player kick the whole guild! I know its something unlikely to happen, but the fact that its possible really disturbs me, because I know better! And you should too!
Keep in mind many players of GW2 Are likely X wow players!!!!! Did you hear? X wow players!

I was about to post this suggestion but good thing there’s a forum search function.
Anyway, I think this is badly needed and shouldn’t take that long to implement. Thus, I’m again forwarding this suggestion to the developers.
