I don’t suppose I could get some kind of dev response on this? Why isn’t this beautiful asset being used? Is there any hope of it coming back?

Character select screen makes me sad because of how nice it was in GW1 and how awesome it could be in GW2.

Gw1 logging screen was and it’s the most beautiful log screen ever maded. Always changed whit next exp pack.
Also the gw2 old log screen was amazing, I don’t know why they changed.

Was this a beta character select screen you’re referencing? I’ve played from day 1 of live and the current character select screen is the only one I’ve ever experienced.

Can you describe this old GW2 character select screen? Or are you actually referring to the pre-game launch “Login/Patching” Launcher? Even still, was it a beta Launcher? As I’ve also only ever had the current Launcher since day 1 of live.

Agree,the old screen was looking way better,i think the current login screeen is looking very dull,especially compared to the GW1 login screen,wich was actually very good looking.Be ready for the current login screen to be changed to resemble a huge arrowcart soon.

I had seen that video before, but it is very generic. I can see why they dropped it in favor of the launcher they use now, due to how patching is done in GW2 as opposed to how it was on-demand content downloading in GW1. It was just that I see people speaking so highly of this old screen and how amazing, incredible and creative it was, I was expecting something amazing, incredible and creative and worth speaking highly of. Oh well.

I agree though with the sentiment that both the launcher and the character select screen are begging for some creative and graphical attention.

I would really like to see this returned… at the least as a toggle option

I don’t see why it’s generic, personally. Sure, login screens themselves are fairly generic, but that’s because you generally need one to log into a game. The current option clearly provides an alternative, but it’s hardly an attractive one. The old login breaks the trend of game logins having a rendered in-game background, or a motionless menu, and replaces them with some of the concept art that so heavily influenced the development of this game. On top of that, it includes the actual GW2 theme which you rarely hear anywhere else.

I think it provided a real sense of scale and professionalism, while the new version seems somewhat cheap and almost breaks immersion before the game even begins.

Haven’t played during beta so I never saw this old login screen and was wondering what all the fuss was about since everyone kept crying about it, but THAT is just the most awesome thing I ever saw. Please this HAS to come back

Dear Anet as someone who has donated a kitten tonne of money to gw2 ( ask tehmaker and frozire of gw2guru ) how many gems do i have to record and upload of me buying before we can get back this amazing login screen. I will literally do anything….want my mother dead? DONE….=P jk. but seriously…..
